Lactopine Bath Oil
I remember a bath oil called Lactopine. It was a dark green bottle with a gold label. It was fabulous and was probably one of the first aromatherapy items on board. Is there a place that has that available?

I too have searched for this bath oil all over America ( as a flight attendant). Last bottle I had was in the 80's. Old drug store had every sizde bottle they made, and I miss it. The fragrance both warmed you up when you were cold, and refreshed you when you were hot. Dr Haucksha (sp) has one that is similar, but not as wonderful - Spruce Bath ( Whole Foods.)

So true everybody!
I miss lactopine as well..I got hooked on another great product.., I had a handy source for Kneipp bath oils which are wonderful, but now quite difficult to get as well (and rather pricey!) that set me in search of good old Lactopine..and so i join you in your quest!
Ah darn where do all the great products go?..
I'd love to know if anyone comes up with a source or a near substitute.. |

I have been looking for this for a long time. I used to use it in Connecticut in the 60's/70's and have searched for it ever since. I am in the U.K. Now and still looking. Please let me know if/when you come across it; it also had that red top and went flourescent in the bath. Amazing stuff.

I too am looking for Lactopine. My wife used it all the time when we went on dates in the mid sixties! I have been looking for this product for a very long tome and have exhausted all avenues. My wife would love to get this fragrance once again. What memories!

I sent an e-mail to Vermont Country Store, which finds and stocks some of the good old products, suggesting they ferret out this one for us. Not a promising response, however.

I have been looking for Lactopine, everywhere, for the last 20 years. I even found a similar product at the Vermont Country Store, but sadly that product is no longer available. When I was a child my aunt introduced me to the wonders of Lactopine and I have been hooked ever since. PLEASE, there must be someone who knows where Lactopine can be found. After twenty years, I would pay almost any price to obtain a case, even a bottle, of this green golden bath time delight.

I too join the anxious seekers of that wonderful frangrance called Lactopine cologne. I worked for M H Lampstons in NYC Near the United Nations bldng when I was a teenager. There was a drug store near my job that I purchased my first and only very plain looking bottle of the light green fragrance. Memories for sure. I know it was manufactured in Switzerland. Today I decieded to search and wala I found this site of fellow seekers. I hope and even pray that we find this very much sought after frangrance. Until then happy hunting.

Re: Lactopine Bath Oil
My grandmother would send us bottles of Lactopine for Christmas back in the sixties. She lived in Germany and was able to get Swiss products more easily than our family in Chicago. After awhile even she was unable to find the liquid - which DID turn this fluorescent yellow green in the water - and send us some bath tablets which were fizzy and did the green color but but were not nearly as fragranced, I suspect that this product is no more - overshadowed by other more floral scents.

I have an 8 oz bottle of Lactopine listed on ebay right now - item #280424942491. If you find this post after the auction ends and it did not sell, leave a message here and let me know you are interested. I'll hang on to it for a little while longer.

Congrats to the successful bidder. Has anyone tried googling the "Swiss Pine Co."? I am hopeful that they are still around! Meanwhile I was in Queenstown South Africa in March 2009. While there I purchased a bodywash product named "Dettol menthol body wash". It was wonderful and I packed it to bring it back home. I packed it in my carry on by mistake but they did not confiscate it in South Africa! We arrived in the us in Washington and had to collect our luggage and go through customs there. I was going to put the bodywash in my checked luggage but my bag did not arrive from SA until the next day. Therefore I had to surrender my precious bottle to TSA. Has anyone heard of it and if so where I might purchase it in the states. I live in The Chicagoland Area.

I contacted the west coast distributer a number of years ago and they told me the company that made lactopine bath oil was purchased by a Japanese company and they discontinued the product.

I join in the plea for Latopine. We loved it. I checked into this a few years ago, and as a post said, I also learned that the company in Switzerland no longer extisted. I guess it was too old fashioned and too good.

I am definitely part of the Lactopine fan club. My boyfriend's fabulous Manhattan mother used it - and so did I on a visit to her fabulous penthouse apartment - all the way back in the storied year of 1969. It was definitely an "oil" as I recall, but that haunting scent! Wow. The BF's mom also used Galore lotion (can you still get that???) and a host of tiny, decorative bottles full of things like Bal de Versaille. I had a field day. And smelled mighty fine....Let's keep looking, everybody!!!

Thanks to the person who posted the previous posting. I will order the product and see how it compares to Lactopine. My grandmother used to use lactopine and I associate it with her. I miss her very much and this evokes some wonderful memories--so thanks!

Hi,
I just came across two 1pint bottles of Swiss Pine Bath Oil by Lactopine. One of them leaked somewhat, but the other is full and was unharmed by the leak. I'll be posting them on ebay when i get the time. Just wanted to see if there was an interest in it or if I'd be wasting time. |

Was wondering if anyone has been able to find any more of the Lactopine Swiss Pine Bath Oil. A friend of my husband has about three quarters of a quart size bottle and showed us all and I loved it! Now that I'm looking to get it myself, of course I cannot find it! Has anyone been able to find any recently since most posts here are quite old?
