Can't say I've found any place that this is availible! : ( Why oh why can't they make this sentimental perfume for all of us gals out there that just want to smell this from that time in our life that means so much? Its like certain smells from the outside that are so powerful to bring up certain memories.....I know there's a song in this! : ) Just can't believe it's never going to be on the market again. Maybe if we all will it to be! : ) Okay Blue Jean memories to all my Blue Jean friends.

Wow! I thought I was the only freak who held onto her empty yellow bottle and took a whiff every once in a while ... And I do mean freak in the most affectionate and complimentary way. I have almost thrown that bottle out several times, but just can't bring myself to do it. My first serious boyfriend, when I saw him years after we broke up, said he still remembered that perfume. I'm going to the P&G site right now and sending them an email!

Hi
I thought i was the only one who loved that perfume. Reminds me of high school, slower paced life, driving around in my 64 corvair, weighing 120 pounds, waist long hair, being able to move around with ease. Oh the wild and crazy days.
Now 35 yrs and 70 pounds later, i would love to smell that perfume again to bring back sweet memories of days gone by.

Hi,

I can't find Blue Jean either, but have found something very similar. The perfume is Inspiration By Lacoste...My boyfriend asked if I was wearing Blue Jean when he first smelled it and he hadn't smelled it for thirty-four years. That is how similar Inspiration is to Blue Jean.. You can find Inspiration at www.scentiments.com

If you still have 1/3 of bottle. Does it still have the label on it? if so can you tell be who makes it? because sometimes it is possible to track a perfume that way. And sometimes it is still being made but overseas. That is how i found a bottle of "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" shampoo. It wa being made in the philipines and I ordered it. It was good to have something from my teen years.

HERE'S A TIP... THE NEXT TIME YOU'RE AT THE DRUG STORE... CHECK TO SEE IF THEY HAVE "PARA MI BEBE" BABY COLOGNE. IF SO, TAKE A WHIFF OF THE PINK COLORED COLOGNE... IT IS A PRETTY CLOSE MATCH!

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hi
I have been looking and looking to no avail too! Blue jeans was made by a company called Shulton Inc. That was on rt. 46 in clifton NJ awhile back. I actually won some bluejeans powder fromthe 70s and gave it to my mom as a reminder present. The girl who sold me it had no other blue jeans stuff and even was nice enough to give me a sampleof the powder.
I checked to see if Shulton is in business andthey are not. They sold out to Proctor & Gamble in the early 1990s. I actually contacted P & G's customer service dept and inquired andf they said tht since they acquired Shulton in the 90sthat they have no information on their past product line!! So alas, the mystery of Blue Jeans continues!!
Janna, if you're still willing, I have a SASE with your nae on it!!

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hi Rachael;
Thanks for your informative response to the Blue Jeans Perfume! Golly, sounds like you did alot of "research" on this, and I for one, am grateful to you! Thanks! :) As I stated in my first Post here, I have searched the Internet for "eons" to try to find anything connected with Blue Jeans Perfume, & it just seems to be "non-existent" out there~ darn! Would you happen to know if anybody might make or "Manufacture" a Perfume that smells "similar" to it? I don't even know where to begin to look for various types of "re-makes" on older Perfume lines. Any suggestions?
Also, while searching the "Net" the other day, I found where they do make some of the way older Perfumes (vintage) that are still out on the Market. You can get them through the "Vermont Country Store" Web Site. That was an interesting one that I just so happened to "hit-up-on," incase anybody is wanting various Perfumes for their Mothers or Grandmother's, that might have been a "classic" for them. Just type in Vermont Country Store into Google. I will post later, on more Perfumes I am looking for & also interested in. Thanks again Rachael for your response!! Much appreciated!

Dear Janna & Kim,
This is what I propose.
I will go to sephora and take some of their free spray sticks (pieces of paper that you spray their perfumes on to smell them) I will mail them toi Janna and also include a prepaid postage envelope for her to send back to me. Kim, you can send her a prepaid postage envelope too so that all she has to do is spray and SEND away!! How about that girls? Rachael

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
I have read with interest, on the subject of 1970's Blue Jeans Perfume for Women. I use to wear this stuff in High School, & remember my Mom getting me a bottle of it for Christmas one year. If I remember correctly, the outside of the bottle (or box) had the design of a "blue jean" pocket to it. Is this the same one? I can't remember who Manufactured Blue Jeans, but all of your Postings & info have helped tremendously while reading on the board here. Thanks all for Posting, and gee, I wish some of the Manufacturer's would come out with some of the older "fav" fragrances! Is there any place some of us could write to and/or contact to perhaps put in a word? (it's worth a try anyway.) I have searched the Net for a long time looking for some of the older fragrances, but to no avail. (sniff.)

Procter & Gamble purchased the Old Spice fragrances, Skin Care and
Antiperspirant and Deodorant products from the Shulton Company in June
1990. Since I have no record of this fragrance in my data base, I have to
Assume it was discontinued prior to our purchase.
I don't have future marketing plans, but I'll be sure to share your

I agree! With all the interest, it seems that P&G should consider “re-introducing” Blue Jeans perfume. I would think that they could make a ton of money with a “retro” campaign that targets perfumes that have been off the market for some time. Blue Jeans perfume should be their first of such a campaign! I would certainly buy it and would tell all my friends about it!!

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
With so many women wanting this perfume, we should think of a way to petition P&G to remake it. Enough people have a spray or two left to send to them to try to remake it, if they say they wouldn't know how to recreate it since they don't have a record of it. I have my bottle, but it's empty. Every once in awhile I will take the cap off just to smell the scent, even though there's nothing left to spray. If they would remake this, I wouldn't use anything else. I LOVE it!

Hey! I have been trying to find 'Blue Jeans' perfume, too! I have looked on ebay, & asked Vermont Country Stores if they could get it for me, but to no avail! I do have an empty spray bottle that I have held on to for over 30 years! I can barely get a whiff of this great fragrance! I took several pictures of my bottle. If anyone is interested, I would happily email copies of my pictures! I noticed on the bottle, that the Shulton, Inc. Also listed London . Paris., as well as, made in USA. There is also the NO. 5614 listed after made in USA. If anyone finds this perfume, please let me know. I would LOVE to purchase the 'memories' this fragrance would bring back! I hope with enough interest, this perfume will make a COMEBACK for the 'children' of Disco!! Thanks for allowing me to post on this message board! Judy in Georgia

After reading all of your wonderful messages, I emailed P&G customer service also and suggested that they bring back Blue Jeans for all of us Baby Boomers out here. Maybe if we get all of our friends to email them, they will get the hint. Again, thanks for all of the info and research on this and let's keep going - maybe it will come back to the market some day. Happy Spring, Wanda from Indiana

I would LOVE a pic of the bottle. I have very fond memories of my BLUE JEANS!!!! I used to wear it in middle school and high school (back in the late 70's). I am beginning my search and would love to have it back on the sale shelves of CVS! My e-mail address is erikaann@optonline.net. Please e-mail me a pic (or info if you have any as to where I can get it again).

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hi girls!
I'm like all the rest of you; looking for the elusive Blue Jeans perfume. I had my empty bottle for years and somehow it was broken in a move. Needless to say, I was heartbroke. There IS a close fragrance I found though. It is called AMBUSH by Dana. It has a bright pink lid with the name Ambush across it in white. It is now discontinued but you can find it on Ebay.
I think if Proctor & Gamble had emails by all of us EVERYDAY, which I intend to do from this day on out, maybe someone will realize the money they could make off of Blue Jeans, do some research and remanufacture the scent once again. We can only hope! Its amazing how many great memories are attached to this one perfume!
If I happen to come across any information on the acquisition of this vintage scent, I will post a message here immediately!
Good luck in the hunt for Blue Jeans!

Awe Theresa I am so sorry you had such a tough time in your childhood. I know it's funny how this perfume meant so much to so many and I felt too if just enough people wrote in that maybe just maybe they'd see what a great thing this is. I know if you find any from the seventies it's most likely a little off in smell so I am also hoping that they make it again. Just a little refresher from so good memories! Good luck to us all. I can' get this perfume out of my head...I had a really bad home life and while in school, some people came around and gave all the girls a gift pack..inside was(you guessed it) blue jeans perfume!!!!It will remain one of the best memories of my life. Some wonderful sunshine in my world of sadness. As sought after as it is, seems to me , it could be brought back! I thought it was just me, because of what it meant in my life, that wanted it back so badly.... Maybe somehow, some one will decide there are enough of us that want it back, that they'll bring it back. Good luck to everyone.....Theresa

Girls...I have searched also w/ no luck. I have read all your comments, read about the men's version blue jeans by versace cologne.... They make several (jean) colognes and perfumes for men and women.blue jean for men, baby blue jeans for men...I'm thinking the baby blue jean is the one...think about it, the color of the cologne and bottle...match pretty good!!!
Just thinking.....they wouldn't be able copy it exact...name might be changed...packaging also.. Just a thought
Someone had to get that formula when sulton inc went out of business or what ever happened. Maybe Versace, has the formula.. Well you never know!!!!
OR maybe a new generation has a new name old formula.
You think about it ...I've never smelled baby blue jeans,BUT now I'll find some and find out what it does smell like.
Remember TICKLE deoderant..1970's think again!!!

First the person does send some of her profits to a good cause and so I figured good deed. But I have a feeling as cheap as it all was I bet unless you put them in the dungeon it will stink! Yours might be fine Rachel but what is advertise from the ebay now on ebay acts like you could wear it. I believe I'll hold out on anymore ebay sales and pray for it to be remade! : ) already made a stupid purchase and figured the poor girl could use the money.....not if your rebuying for more money and getting the thing you sold me!!!! lol lesson learned from lover of blue jean perfume'

I actually wear it from time to time as well and I like the smell. It reminds me of Love's Baby Soft or something :), however, I can understand how after 30 years of nonuse or being locked away that it might not hold the lustre it once had in the 70s.

There is a post earlier in this thread that will point you to a website that has a picture of it.
For what it's worth, the bottle is solid yellow glass (not clear) and it is wider at the bottom than it is at the top (tapered shape), and the lid looks like a large hatbox sitting on top. The box is a "denim" look. It's Blue Jeans by Shulton, but don't bother looking at stores. It hasn't been available for decades now.

Blue Jeans was made by Shulton, Inc. - not Revlon. Clifton, New Jersey #5614. It came in a yellow pump bottle with a blue pump knob. The Blue Jeans logo was an orange script running vertically on the bottle. I still have half a bottle and use a little occasionally - and it still smells wonderful. My sister and I both had Blue Jeans cologne back when. I would never sell my bottle, it is just a reminder of happier days...

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
I have a bottle of Blue Jeans cologne from the early seventies. It's surprising how our tastes in scents change from thirteen years of age to fifty years of age.
I was so in love with that scent that it was pretty much all I wore until I was old enough to stop wearing "teenie bopper" scents, and I moved to wearing Chanel, etc. To remind those of you who may not remember, it's sort of a mixture of flowers and black licorice. Honestly. It's not that it's a bad scent, but it's different enough that I've never found anything else like it.
If any of you know of a company who'd be willing to analyze it for the purpose of reproducing it, I'd be willing to let go of a bit of it for the sanity of my menopausal sisters.
If any of you are in the Chicago or northwest Indiana area, I'd be more than willing to meet up with someone for a cup of coffee and a spritz from my bottle!
I'll give most of my email address, but I'm going to leave out some letters, only because I get enough spam as it is. There are no asterisks in my real email addy..just figure out what letters should be where the asterisks are. My name is Sue and my email addy is:

I would love to thank everyone who has left their little thoughts about this wonderful "teen" cologne. There are now several ads for Blue Jeans avail for auction on ebay now. I laughed out loud when I read the blurb where someone also mentioned Ambush and Skinny Dip! Thanks for recalling those memories for me too. Back when I got Blue Jeans it came with a free royal blue flair magic marker that was scented with the fragrance. What a neat gimmick that was! I used to write all the time to friends and a secret crush using that. I haven't heard anyone mention that one yet. Remember? What a market their would be today for teenie-boppers and scented markers. Somebody should jump on this band wagon and bring back the oldies but goodies. Hey, remember Yucca-doo Shampoo? Body on Tap shampoo? (supposedly made with some beer?) Earthborn Shampoo too. Ahhh! I want those things back again! I would love to share these scents with my daughters. Thanks for reading and keep those blurbs coming girls. I'm lovin' it! "o)

I too get an email when someone posts a reply to blue jeans perfume. It is so neat to see all the memories.
I loved the shampoo with "beer" in it. And the noxema in the glass jar was fun to use on my face to make it beautiful.
I used to sew back in the day, and i made myself purses and bell bottoms with the different color pockets, i wore flip flops before they were in style. Remember the floppy hats.
The other week at a doll show i picked up a pc of material that had cut and sew outfits for tammy doll that was from the 1960's. I remember playing with my tammy doll on the front porch in the summer time. I also loved sitting on the big wrap around porch we had, with my dad on a hot summer night when it was storming.
Does anyone remember using baby oil and iodine for tanning purposes. Oh what we did to our skin back then.
Keep the memories coming. After a very hard night at work, i love seeing those memories. Thank you all.

Hi everybody,
Boy oh boy! do I ever remember some of those things. I too loved Body On Tap shampoo. If I am not mistaken I have seen Agree in a store somewhere, but not sure where.
I also found at our local flea market a half bottle of Ambush, I have a tiny bottle that was bought at an antiques store as well, I will be going back to the flea market soon and I think I will pick up the unopened package of Ambush that she has on her shelf. I paid $2 for the most recent bottle. The smaller one my fiance at the time got for me and we both just love it! We recently married in August and I wore the Ambush. I had hoped to find some of the Blue Jeans, but alas no such luck. Let's all keep hoping they will resurrect our perfume!

The Shulton Company sold out some of their products to Procter & Gamble in 1990, but this doesn't appear to be one of the products they continued to produce. All of you Blue Jeans lovers should contact Procter & Gamble to ask them to bring this perfume back! I have made a request on their website, and if enough of us request it, maybe they will do some research to dig it up. If women are willing to pay $400 for 20 year old perfume on Ebay, there has to be a market to bring it back to. If anyone knows if the Shulton Company is still in business, they should be contacted too.

Every guy would ask me what I was wearing when he'd smell it on me. I remember wearing it as late as 1979. Hey! I am contacting you with a request to bring back an old perfume I loved from the 1970's, "Blue Jeans". It was originally made by the Shulton Company & I understand you bought some of their products. I am not alone in my longing to find this once again in stores. Hi! Judy,
Thanks for contacting us.
The fragance product you wrote about isn't one of ours. We purchased the Old Spice fragrance and anti-perspirant lineup from Shulton, but not Blue Jeans. I'm sorry. I don't believe any manufacturer out there is making this fragrance. You may want to recheck the package label or consult the Thomas Register at your local library to locate the name and address of the current manufacturer. You can also visit them online at: http://www.thomasregister.com . Also, Versace has a fragrance product out called Blue Jeans and since they are using the name, they may have the patent rights to it and possibly the fragrance.
I hope this information is helpful.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
I am a BLUE JEANS fan from the mid to late 1970s. If I concentrate really hard, I can almost remember the smell. I, too would love to have an old bottle but it is hard to find on ebay and if you do, it can go for hundreds of dollars.

Over the years my signature perfumes have changed....but one I am liking RIGHT NOW is Covet by Sarah Jessica Parker. It seemed to smell so familiar to me but I couldn't ever really place the scent. I almost thought it reminded me of Jean Nate'...but then I would decide, no that is not it. While reading all of these posts, someone mentioned Covet reminding them of Blue Jeans. Today I sprayed my Covet on, closed my eyes and tried to remember and I can almost say that is DOES remind me of Blue Jeans! Does anyone else agree? If someone out there still has a bottle, maybe you could smell it, then go to Kohl's or a department store carrying COVET and smell it to see if we are right. It is just the REGULAR covet, not the Covet Bloom.

Please let us know if you can....Thanks!!!

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
It was me about the Covet. I think it is in the same category at least. I can almost remember the smell. My husband was going to get me some Blue Jeans off ebay and couldn't believe it went over $100. I would also be interested if someone that has vintage Blue Jeans would compare it with Covet and let us know what you think.

I was raised in the great state of Michigan and still reside here in the lower peninsula. I started wearing BJ as a teen and continued into my early twenties until it was discontinued (in 1979?). I have a belt (skinny elastic which is blue with white lettering) and a satiny light blue drawstring pouch which was purchased in the box with the cologne. These were promo items and I can't remember if I sent away for the belt or not. What I remember distinctly about the cologne was that every guy that smelled it on me would remark how much they liked it, even if they were just walking by me.

Diane

Wow. I thought I'd look up the cologne my old boyfriend wore in the 70's: Dante cologne by Shields which is discontinued. I found out that it has been said that it is similar to Wild Musk by Avon. Isn't that what people are saying about BJ?

I have been watching all the messages about blue jeans. Oh how i loved that stuff. I am almost 55 and when i think of blue jeans i remember a slower paced lifestyle.
I took blue jeans with me to a sleepover new years 1972. It was a youth group and we had a wonderful time listening to the hits of the past year and talking about boys and sampling my blue jeans. I bought the colonge at the new Nichlos dept store. I was driving an 8 year old corvair then. Oh those were the days.
Thanks everyone for the memories of the blue jeans colonge.

Would you be willing to sniff a bottle of Sarah Jessica Parker's COVET (regular, with the purple flower top, not the "Blossom Covet") and tell us if you think it is at all similar to the Blue Jeans that we remember and miss? A couple of us say it reminds us of our old Blue Jeans! We would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Hey Susan,
I will 44 this October. Geeze when I was 11 or 12 I thought that was OLD LOL.I wish I could say that I have the Blue Jeans perfume in my cabinet, but alas it is not to be. I do have the Love's Baby Soft in there though, and a couple of small bottles of Ambush. I love them all, and now one of my other favorites is getting very hard to find. I really love the scent of Coty's Musk Oil, but am having a hard time finding it. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH Why is it that everything we love (material wise) seems to take a hike?

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hey Rosie!
I had a fun conversation with a girl friend (a Blue Jeans fan too, who is 38) about the scents of our lives. It would be interesting to know where those of us went after blue jeans. I can remember pretty well trying to "find myself" through scent during those "finding yourself" teen years...after BJ, like I said, I got hooked on Loves Baby Soft (grades 7, 8). Then 9th grade was kind of a trying year (some scents that were NOT ME like Wind Song, Jean Nate), but 10th I found Bonne Bell's SKIN MUSK! OMG did I love that. And they still make it and I did have to buy some (just a cheap body spray) just to go back. From there I tried some other musks...Alyssa Ashley, some other musk I can't remember...those carried me through high school. College I discovered Liz Claiborne and also Realities. They were total scents of the 90s. My wedding fragrance (which someone on here mentioned) was Victoria's Secret's VICTORIA. As a new mom I tried Pleasures and Clinique's HAPPY and HAPPY HEART. Then along the way there have been scents that I have "liked" but have stayed away from because they were "someone else's" signature scent and it just didn't feel right (like Beautiful, which my mother in law adopted as HERS). Right now at 42 I am using Sarah Jessica Parker's LOVELY and also her COVET...which brought me back to Blue Jeans and this whole blog thing! :-) How about all you you BJ fans out there...what has your LIFE after BLUE JEANS been?

Hey Karen! Still waiting for someone with a bottle of BJ to offer to do a comparison sniff for us with COVET! That is awfully sad that your husband tried so hard to get you the Blue Jeans and it was just not it. I know that I would know right away if it was the "real deal" or not....I have given up on ebay and think I now just need to scope out garage sales, flea markets and stuff.

I did go back and find your post just to make sure I hadn't dreamed about the Covet. I just thought it was weird that the smell kept taking me back....but I could not remember exactly when what or where. It must be because it was SO LONG ago. I last remember having/seeing my Blue Jeans in the 6th grade in 1978. I have NO idea what I ever did with the bottle. I assume I finished it and tossed it. ***Sigh***. Alright...who out there with an old bottle of Shulton's Blue Jeans is ready to do this experiment for us who think Covet is similar? Or who still has it who can tell us what the notes were in Blue Jeans? Was it floral? Spicy? Citrus? Help us!

Hey Rosie, do they still make canoe? I remember seeing it, but probably 20 years ago. I will look around. So you have a fabric swatch then...ok, if you get the opportunity (have your husband too) to sniff SJP Covet...post here to let us know. Funny, I did try emeraude too...but it wasn't me. Neither was windsong really. And I did try to do Calvin Klein's ETERNITY with the rest of the world in the early 90s. Wow...I would have to spray it on, then SHOWER and it would be okay. Talk about STRONG! HOLY COW!!!! Someone mentioned TABU also. My mom had a bottle of that (along with the arpage I think) and I can remember sneaking into her room to smell them when I was too young for them. I think my first perfume EVER was Avon's SWEET HONESTY. Glad they still make that...not that I want to wear it again...just knowing it is there and I can smell it if I want!

I was in the drugstore today and looked at the Covet. It was $48 and there was no tester. So I will check another store for a tester. I have a bottle that is dried up but still smells like the cologne. I think it's more of a clean, young scent. Not floral or spicy. I, too, have a bottle of Ambush. I think I tried Taboo before. I like the Shalimar perfume and I would recommend trying that to you girls. I liked Baby Soft also. But nothing, NOTHING compares to Blue Jeans! I think the Oprah idea sounds great. Who has connections?

Also...I DID just check out vermontcountrystore.com and they do carry a lot of old unavailable/discontinued items and look for suggestions. I am not sure how they bring them back...do they manufacture them themselves? Anyway, I filled out a customer recommendation form for Blue Jeans. Maybe if enough of us do one? While we wait for Oprah that is. And thanks, Diane for the other suggestions...I will check those out.

Susan,
I used Emeraude, Wind Song,&Tabu, not really in that order. Two of them was before I discovered Blue Jeans, my husband certainly knows the scent! My good friend Rachael whom I met on here, sent me a spray of Blue Jeans onto a piece of cloth I sent her, and hubby knew it right away! We have searched high and low here in our neck of the woods, but so far notta! My mother in law only wears Tabu. I do own some Tabu, but those other two are just way to strong for me. Someone once said that the cologne for men called "canoe"sorta smelled like our Blue Jeans. Its kinda sorta close but really no cigar!

I noticed somewhere along the way that I had been starting new posts instead of replies...so I cut n pasted them and put them back here at replies. I noticed that someone else did that in reply to one of my messages so I am cutting and pasting it here and will reply to it after hers.

SJP smells heavy and almost spicy... Only faintly like BJ.
BJ is light, happy, uplifting, and fruitiy.... Only one thing I've found ( actually, my husband found ) that even comes close.... Now, don't laugh, at first I thought he was nuts...
But...Avons Wild Country for men...smells somewhat like it...Here's the thing...everyone smell differently...and nothing in the world is going to smell like BJ...I second the motion to contact Oprah...if anyone can do it....she can... Oh and don't judge the Wild Country too soon....let it dry completely before passing judgement... ~Theresa

That is funny, Theresa, because I didn't think that COVET smelled like BJ until an hour or so after putting it on. So Avon's Wild Country? Hey...I am up for trying anything. I'll get some samples from a girl at work who does Avon. I know everyone smells things differently AND that perfumes are different on everyone. Bath n Body works made this perfume called GINGHAM back in the mid 90s that I LOVED on my sister in law...I bought some and it was HORRID on me!!!

I also like The Body Shop's White Musk, and since turning 50 (a bit older now) I love gardenia or plumeria after traveling to Maui, which (the whole island) smells like flowers. Hi girls...wondering if Blue Jeans had ANY musky tones at all? Many of us mentioned moving on to musky perfumes after our BJ days. Coty's Wild Musk...I think that was the one I could not remember...wore that in college for a while. Anyway, I grew up in Oswego, NY...right on Lake Ontario. That is an interesting question...where we all were in our Blue Jean days of the 1970s! After going to bed (very late) last night, I tried to remember WHEN I got that first Blue Jeans and who got it for me. I certainly wasn't buying my own things back then as it was PRE-babysitting days and I don't ever remember having money to "shop". I want to say that I got it in the 4th grade...maybe 9th birthday...10th? Hey...did any of you out there begin your perfume days with Avon's Sweet Honesty? That I can remember as being my first. Probably in a little glass roll on bottle. To this day I am drawn to anything in a little glass roll on bottle...probably also reminiscent of the roll on lip glosses of the 70s!!!

Hi everyone! My twin sister and I also loved Blue Jeans. We have both searched high and low for it, both on-line and at local garage sales and re-sale shops. No luck so far. I also wrote to P&G and Vermont Country Store a while back, and will do so again today. Maybe, just maybe someone will hear our prayers to bring this wonderful stuff back to us. I am 54, lived my whole life in Indiana. In my youth, Blue Jeans was it! Then, I also used Coty's Earth solids. Patchouli Oil, yes, I'm an old hippie at heart, has been a mainstay with me all these years. I like Skin Musk, also. In my 30's and 40's, I tried all the department store perfumes.....Youth Dew!! (too old for me), Happy (too young for me), etc, etc. Come on Opra, give us ladies a chance to relive our youth and find someone who will bring back Blue Jeans. If anyone could help, it would be her. Hey Susan, and ladies,

I never really offically owned a bottle of Blue Jeans. But we had a small mom and pop drug store close by my house and I made sure to stop in everyday LOL. And give myself a spray or 10 LOL.They always had a bottle for testing on the shelf. And I am quite sure I was making sure they kept one out.! LOL Anyway I am in Illinois and have lived here my whole life! Such fun that has been.(Not really) we have too many corrupted politicians in this state as I sure most of you are aware of that from the news.
Anyway Susan I HAVE that little roll on bottle of Sweet Honesty! I found it awhile back at our local flea market. Full Bottle, $2 was all it took for me to get it into my hot little hands. I use it and the Ambush very sparingly. Might not ever find them again.
I really do hope and pray that someday we get the ORIGINAL Blue Jeans back on the market and not a close knock off of it.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hey Rosie! That is a fun story about the Blue Jeans tester. I worked at JCPenney through college and used to choose which perfume I would wear once I got to work...visiting the cosmetic counter! Sand and Sable takes me back to those days! Anyway, I wonder if part of the allure of our Blue Jeans is the fact that it IS so scarce? I mean, go to any Walmart today and you can whip a Love's Baby soft in your cart for $6 bucks. Or you can just sniff it for fun and not make the investment. Same with the other perfumes we have mentioned...windsong, the musks, etc. I even ordered some sweet honesty in my 30s just to "have" in case Avon decided to stop making that! But we can't have that with our blue jeans!!!!!! I have already decided that once my daughter loses interest in her drawer full of young girl perfumes (Bratz, etc. Can't think of what else she has in there that I have supplied her with) I will confiscate it all and put it in a box till she is 40 and so wanting a trip back!!!!
posted 08/21/09 by Susan

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
I like your way of thinking Susan. Because as we all know, nothing good lasts forever. And I am sure when your daughter is feverishly looking for a one of her all time favs. When she is older, she will be estatic over the box you put away for her! I have one daughter and the only perfume that I know she really enjoys is Curve. And so far that is still available. I liked the smell of that one also.
Someone had mentioned a cologne by Avon Wild country I believe it was, and we have that here at home and I think I may give that a shot to see if after it dries, if it has a close scent to Blue Jeans. But nothing will be Blue Jeans until they remake it! I cannot believe that no one knows where the recipe is, or who has it!

Hello All, I too have searched for blue jeans for the last few years with no luck and enjoyed reading this forum. Several weeks ago there was a bottle of blue jeans up for auction on ebay and I was lucky enough to be the winner. It is only half a bottle but the smell is perfect, the price was a bit much needless to say, but I was giving it to myself for my 52nd birthday. The memories it brought back were great but now I don't want to use it. It's like I'm afraid of wasting it so what's the point in having it. I guess that sounds ridiculous but I'm thinking of putting it back up for auction, I don't know. With all the people looking for it I know I'll never find it again, pretty dumb, right...I did compare the Sara Jessica scent that someone had suggested as comparable and I really don't think you'll be happy with that match.I really do enjoy this forum and I think whomever thought of involving Oprah in the quest for the resurgence of blue jeans was spot on. I would most likely feel the same and would be tempted to spray some cotton, put it in a zip lock and just keep it for when I needed to reminisce! So, Diane, you did the test for us and Covet is not a match? That is disappointing to hear, as I now realize that I can't really remember the Blue Jeans smell like I thought I could. Oprah! HELP US!

Re Blue Jeans, I don't think Covet smells like it at all. Ambush is VERY close, but you have to make sure you get the ORIGINAL Ambush - they reformulated it and the new version is horrid. This is the one you want. Http://www.nellbutler.com/AMBUSH_W.html

Blue Jeans was my first "real" cologne. It was wonderful - much better than Baby Soft if you ask me!! I think it disappeared sometime in the 1980s because I tried to buy more and couldn't - this was when I was in I think high school.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Wow...I just stumbled across this website while trying to locate yet ANOTHER "hard to find" fragrance. I'm blown away by the MANY people looking for the old 1970's "Blue Jeans" that I (like all of you) wore in high school. I'm feeling really "guilty" right now because I have five, full/in the box, bottles of the original "Blue Jeans" down in the bottom of my old sewing box that I bought at the drug store (here in Iowa) back in the late 70's or early 80's when it was becoming scarce. I just went and dug it out of the closet - the last time I ran across it (in the old sewing box, which I obviously don't use other than to store odds and ends) - I had my, then "junior high" age daughter (NOW on the cusp of graduating from COLLEGE in May!) see if she might like to have it, but she "passed". It didn't appeal to her - guess every generation has "their thing". I also found that I still have a half-used bottle, a skinny "purse size" (also about half full), a container of the "dusting powder" and - of all things - a Blue Jeans "SOAP ON A ROPE"! What a HOOT!!! I don't remember ever HAVING a Blue Jeans "SOAP ON A ROPE"! I'll not be parting with THAT...that's just TOO FUNNY. At any rate...I do remember snatching up those five bottles (in a panic, no doubt) when I saw them in Manly's Drug Store because I hadn't been able to find it where I usually bought it and had heard rumblings of it possibly being discontinued. Thinking I'd need to "make them last", I continued wearing the "new" fragrance I'd started wearing (when I couldn't find Blue Jeans) and used the two, now half-empty, bottles sparingly. Ha!...SO "sparingly", I guess, that 30 YEARS later I STILL have FIVE FULL BOTTLES!!! (Good grief!!!) Well, now that I know there are people out there who would like to have it, I'll have to figure out what to do about it. It's REALLY LATE right now, so I'll check back in the next day or so.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
I have written to "Vermont Country Store" about this cologne. The manufacturer is Shulton. If more people right to them to find it the better the chances. They have brought back many items fromt the 70's. (Including "Gee your hair smells terriffic". I have also written to Proctor and Gamble who now is the parent company of Shulton. The more correspondance they get the better the chances of this comping back.

We have sent request from many places and they haven't came up with anything for us to get our hopes up. : ( So just watch ebay. Can't believe they won't make that scent for all of us who once loved it so much! Still waiting for it, Bev

Hey! Thanks for the info on scentmatchers. I hadn't read that post. I did contact P&G & found out they did not purchase Blue Jeans from Shulton at the time they bought Old Spice. They send a link to find out who, if anyone, purchased Blue Jeans from Shulton. I haven't had a chance to follow up on it. The info is posted, should anyone get a chance to check it out. Happy Hunting!! Did the lady find my post regarding Sun Showers? Merry Christmas to all!!

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Cathy, I started this post in 11/04. Don't know if you'd be able but I would love to have a scent stick mailed to me with a spray of it on. I spend lots of time in the stores smelling scents to see if anything comes close. Deb Stores had a new scent out, but after posting what I think is close and everyone else disagreeing i am beginning to wonder if i remember. I have found Bird of Paradise, and Charisma by Avon at yard sales but no Blue Jeans. My sweet husband tried to surprise me last year and bought me the "new' Blue Jeans ugh. Anyway, girls, check out the perfumes at Deb store, and let me know. And, Cathy, if you would consider mailing me a sample I will send you a SASE or I can send you my address. Thanks a million you lucky woman!

Hey Judy,

That would be so awesome if one of the ladies here sends in a scent stick, or a small vial of Blue Jeans! How awesome would it be ladies? That someday in our very near future, our much loved, blast from the past became a very real thing of the 21st century!
Too many perfumes today are way too strong, some women smell like they jumped into a huge vat of the "stinky" perfumes of today and bathed in them!
Dont get me wrong there are many great smelling perfumes of today out there. But there truly is only one Blue Jeans and hopefully your found website and someones Blue Jeans can bring it all back for us to enjoy once again.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Scentmatchers is a rip-off. They state that they have a sample to go with. I specified Blue Jeans women's cologne by Shulton. I spent over $60 to have Blue Jeans replicated, it didn't smell like it at all so I sent it back. They stated that they never got it back so I went to the post office to find out that they DID deliver it to them (I had it insured) and now they don't answer my emails. They are a rip-off. I stated this in an earlier email here but I guess not everyone reads all the emails.

You are so lucky to have that blue jeans. I would love to smell that scent again. A few years ago i sent a swatch of material to a very sweet lady to spray with BJ. Just wanted to let you all know that one is listed on ebay right now, and it only has one day left and it's at $10 plus $10 shipping. It does have a reserve, which means it has to go for a certain amount or the seller won't sell it, but I have no idea what the reserve is! :) Could be $20 lol! Good luck ladies.. The item number is 200420032336 so if you search for that you should find it. Merry Christmas!

I have a bottle that still has a small amount left in it that I purchased with a lot of old colognes off of ebay. I was excited to get it, but dissapointed because the scent seems to have turn bad (the bottle clearly looks to be from the seventies) over the years. You can kinda get a sense of how it used to smell, but I had to wash it off

Hey ladies, I'm amazed that there are so many of us looking for that sent that takes us back to the best times of our lives. I've been looking for BJ for a long time. I was wondering if Cathy, the woman with five bottles has thought of taking one bottle to a parfume maker and copying the scent for the rest of us? If the scent is no longer made then she could make alot of money from all of us. Just call it Cathy's Blue Jeans. If anyone finds where I could get some please let me know Good Luck

About four years ago I bid on and won a vintage perfume lot on ebay which included a half full bottle of shulton's bluejeans 1 oz. Cologne spray mist. It came in the denim box. It does smell like it did, but you can definately tell this cologne is old and sadly I had to wash it off my wrist soon after applying. I guess that mabe cologne goes bad after so many years, after all it is possible this bottle could be 40 yrs old.

Ambush by Dana comes close to the smell of Blue Jeans, but of course there will ONLY BE ONE BLUE JEANS PERFUME! And of course NOBODY KNOWS where the recipe for it WENT! yeah right I find that one hard to believe.
Even the Ambush is very hard to find, I have three small bottles and my most recent puchase was only .50 cents at a garage sale! Still keeping my eye out at those sales for our beloved Blue Jeans, might even get lucky and get it for .50 cents LOL.

Re: 1970 Blue Jeans Perfume For Women
Hi ladies,

I wanted to reply regarding other colognes that may be similar to Blue Jeans. I still have my original bottle from the mid-late 70s with about 2-3 applications left in it, and last time I checked it still smelled wonderful. The only thing I've found to be even remotely similar is Para Mi Bebe in the pink bottle. It's a much lighter, more juvenile version (after all it's designed for babies), but the basic scent is actually quite similar to Blue Jeans.

Does anyone remember Heaven Scent by Helena Rubenstein? I still have some partially used vintage bottles of that as well as Love's Baby Soft. It looks like they may have starting manufacturing LBS again? I see there are quite a few listed on eBay. I sure wish someone would start making Blue Jeans again! The formula has to be somewhere!!

Anyway, I'm interested in purchasing a bottle of Blue Jeans cologne but am unwilling to pay an outrageous amount, so if anyone has any for sale for a reasonable price, please leave me your e-mail address and I'll be in touch.

Thanks!
JT

P&G are not the makers of our "elusive" favorite. It was made by Shulton and they were bought out by P&G. And "OF COURSE" the recipe they need to remake Blue Jeans, has been lost within the Shulton Co. Or as P&G said "Shulton stopped making it before we bought them out!
But with so many of us wanting the perfume you would think they would do their best to re-produce it. Ah we can only hope! LOL

I WON THAT CONTEST! I was 13 years old and living in Houston, Texas. I got the entry out of Teen magazine in the summer of 1976 when we moved there and I had zero friends. I still have a copy of it! I sent my name in 26 times and they picked mine out of over 300,000 entries. I won $5000. And the trip to California and the part on Happy Days. What is totally odd is that I actually just found the episode on YouTube YESTERDAY! It was Season 5 and the name of that episode was "Hard Cover" and it aired in September of 1977. I am the blonde sitting at the table when Fonzie and Richie walk in the library and they pan over me and then you can see me in the background at another table. I remember they gave me a spanish dictionary to look at and pretend I was reading. It was a wonderful trip that my whole family took. We actually cashed in the airplane tickets and rented an RV and drove a week out, stayed a week at the then Century Plaza Hotel and then took another week to drive home. We visited every thing from Houston to California and back. While in LA we got to go to Disneyland with our own private tour guide, I danced on American Bandstand with Dick Clark (they even got me a date)and we got to sit in the audience at the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. At 13 I dont know how they pulled off getting me in there and we even had a song ready to "Stump the Band"! We ate at Chasen's and Scandia Restaurants with the Shulton Company executives and I don't think those restaurants are even there anymore. I had my own stretch limo and driver for the whole week and that was REALLY fun. I got to have a private tour of Paramount Studios and they were filming Little House on the Prairie then and I have pics with most all of them from that show too. My day at Happy Days was so fun. I ate lunch with the cast and Henry Winkler was the nicest of all of them. He sat with me and my mom and talked with us for a long time. I remember being so awestruck. He kissed me on my cheek and I thought I was gonna die on the spot! I have a copy of the script from that episode with everyones autograph, including Jerry Paris the producer and Gary Marshall the Director, Ron Howard, Anson Williams, Scott Baio....ALL of them. Wow what a memory just now. I have a photo album of all of this and have not looked at it in a while. I was also in the November issue of Teen magazine in 1977 which showed pics of me at Happy Days and talking about the contest. The article next to me in that issue is all about Leif Garret! How about that for a blast from the past! I was in American Girl magazine as well. When my mom moved from our house in Houston in 2007, I found probably 10 bottles of Blue Jeans. Sadly, I had no idea anyone still was interested and I think they either got thrown out or they went into the estate sale! If I had only known! Hard to believe it was 35 years ago!
