| Hi all, I feel lucky to have found this forum. I am 54 and began wearing this fragrance in 1972 when it was called "Love's Musky Jasmin Flower". It has always been my favorite, although I liked the Love's Baby Soft also, and still do. That one can still occasionally be found. I am on my last bottle, probably of the "Love's Soft Jasmin". I only wear it about once every 2 weeks because I'm trying to make it last. I did an Internet search for the scent, and it brought me here! I am amazed to find that so many still love & search for this fragrance. This thread has given me a lot of places to go looking. Feel free to contact me if you have found success in a particular place. Another scent that I liked during the 70's was called "Kiku" by Faberge. I have had no luck finding that on eBay, or similar sources. When I check these sites for the Love's Musky Jasmin, I will check for Kiku also! Good luck, everybody. |

| Apparently distributors are taking advantage of this strong demand for "Loves Musky Jasmine Flower" by listing it as available at their site... When in fact it is not. Several times now I have bit on such posts at this site. Each time I find the scent is either not listed on their site, or "Out of Stock". But, they get me to go to their site! Who is this Natasha anyway! $99 for a half ounce! That is pretty pricey. Maybe best that they don't realy have it available. |

| I have been looking for it to. I think I have tried every post here and found all to be dead ends. My theory is that the formulae for this stuff was burned along with the design for the carburetor that mixes gas and water (ha ha). Seriously, however, I wonder if this stuff just sold too well and so got bought out by companies selling more expensive perfume. If someone could track down the original designer or recipe I think they could make a lot of money. This stuff used to drive me nuts when my girlfriend wore it. I am going to try just jazmine oil. |

I belive the mfg was "Love" not Jovan and the last price I paid was $7.50. (I'm a NYer, not in NYC) I now wear Victoria Secret Strawberry & Champagne it has a nice "fresh" scent, it doesn't smell like Strawberry (in my opinion). I will check out some of the sites noted in this thread. As much as I enjoy the scent of the musky jasmine I am not willing to pay $99 for it. :) |

| Good luck ladies. I have been looking EVERYWHERE for Love's Musky Jasmin and it's either non-existent or they want $99 for one bottle. Sorry I don't have that kind of money! I did just discover a new Avon perfume called "Flower" by Cynthia Rowley. This is the closest thing I've smelled to Musky Jasmin. It's not exact but it sure did bring back great memories when I smelled it. It's really good and I would highly recommend it. Good luck to you all. Now if I could just get my hands on some affordable Babe... |

With no Musky Jasmin to be found, would someone be interested in a supposedly, perfect match, imposter, (Musky Jasmin,) in a fragrance oil ?
If so, go to, www.perfumescounter.com
1/3 oz costs $9.99, or 3/$26.00
Also another site, http://moebiusenterprises.com/
Has designer imposters in 1/2 oz btls.of the perfumed oil @ $6.00 each. They also have the oil in imposters of Love's Lemon, & Baby Soft, as well as the Musky Jasmin.
I figure for 6 bucks, it's worth a try, & if they aren't any good , at least your not out some ungodly inflated price.

| Re: Love's Musky Jasmine |
Hi Lesa,
Yes, I knew they wouldn't be the same, as imposters never measure up to originals. But finding originals that are quite old, sometimes smell worse than an imposter, due to the fact that whatever amount of perfumed oil was in them may have gone rancid over time. Higher end perfumes generally have higher quality perfumed oils & retain the original scent longer. They also have more oil, & less alcohol, so don't go to alcohol as qiuckly over time. Sometimes this is like a no win situation, it seems.

Thanks for the explanation. Believe it or not I had a hard time finding any info at all on the internet about perfumes and what happens when they get old.
I have a few bottles of Musky Jasmin that I got from ebay. They are old and although I get the "gist" of the Musky jasmin smell, I remeber it being much more fresh smelling.
God I loved that stuff. |

Now if your asking on this particular post, I'm guessing your age, & maybe a few years younger. They're posts are worded more as an adult. Very young posts are worded way differently.

Hi Girls ~ I have found Jovan Pink Musk, not exact but has a nice similarity, it has that one-note in particular that I remember. Got it on clearance for 4.00 at CVS pharmacy.
As an aside, I normally don't balk at perfume prices, but 85.00 was even a bit much for me to spend on a toilette water. Good luck to all! |

The Musky Jasmin from www.timelessperfumes.com is not the same. I ordered this back in March and returned it. I never got my money back. At the time I ordered it, it was $60 (I see they've reduced the price) plus shipping & handling. I've emailed them a couple of times, but have never gotten a reply nor any acknowledgement. So save your money. The perfume sold on the site didn't have that "musky" scent. It's just the jasmin part.
Hope this helps,

Hi all, another child of the 70's here searching for that long lost scent, Love's Musky Jasmine Flower Spray. I used to wear it all the time and recently have become obsessed with trying to find it again. I actually requested that the folks at the Vermont Country Store (www.vermontcountrystore.com) try to find it. I know a lot of us are out there looking for this fragrance. Maybe if they get flooded with emails about it, they can move heaven and earth and make it happen! (They are, after all, quite good at finding rare, hard-to-find stuff).
Give it a try! www.vermontcountrystore.com and click on "Suggest a Product" at the top of the page. |

Omigosh! I found this website and LOVE all your comments. I am 55 and started wearing Love's Musky Jasmine in 1974 - wore it for over 25 years! When the only way you could buy it was at Christmas in gift packages, my sister and I would go out after Christmas and buy up all the kits at half price. When that was no longer offered, we wrote the company and purchased it direct - my sister claims she bought the last of it and that was about 6 years ago. I am still trying to find it, hence discovering your website. I'll keep checking back to see what you all find because I've NEVER found any perfume to match this. I have one bottle with about 1/2 inch left and some powder - I keep them in the dark and occasionally pull them out for a whiff. What a scent!!

I thought the maker was Jovan.
"Musky Jasmine Flower" was the perfume that I regularly bought for my girlfriend in high-school ('73 -'76). I don't know if it was the jasmine or the musk or the combination, but that perfume had a very powerful effect on me... One that most women would be very thankful for. I have looked for this perfume many times over the years without success. The only things that I ever found to be as powerful were love and vacationing in Victoria Canada.
Actually, there was one perfume that I ran across about 8 years ago (asked some young woman what perfume she was wearing). The name was the name of a clothing line or a clothing article. It might have been "Levis" or "Stetson". All these years I could not remember... But I just looked up "Stetson" on the net and found that is a perfume. So... I am going to check-out "Stetson" and the "Love's Soft Jasmine" that I see people talking about in these posts. |

I bought two fragrances from Garden Botanika. Jasmine and Light Musk and blended the two spritzing them in a empty atomizer almost equal amounts but more light musk. Unbelievably really really close to the real thing from my nasal memory. I didn't trust them to blend it themselves so I just bought both and did the mixing on my own. You can buy individual note eau de parfums and go mad scientist or let them blend them. Hope this helps someone. That Musky Jasmine sure was lovely.

Ladies...I have found it.
For about 10 years, here in Los Angeles, celebrities have raved about an underground perfume oil called "Child", by Susan Owens. I've always wanted it but never smelled it. I FINALLY went into Apothia @Fred Segal to smell it today, and my head went whirling back to 1980. It is Love's Musky Jasmine, through & through. I never imagined it would smell like that...I always expected something more like Kai. She's close to our age & must have been inspired by it, though I'm sure she'd never admit it, as she's HUGELY rich and famous for "creating" this fragrance . Anyhow...when I was a kid, LMJ was $5 at the drugstore...now in Child form, it's $55...but it's EXACTLY THE SAME.
I just stumbled upon this website googling "Love's Musky Jasmine", to see if this woman, Susan, ever mentioned it in any of her interviews. I'm glad I found you!! I wanted to mention, also, since so many of you did, that my high school boyfriends went CRAZY for this scent!!! Wonderful memories... |

Like I said, I'm so surprised about this whole thing...I never expected Child to smell anything like jasmine, and it really bums me out that an inexpensive drugstore cologne has been translated into a high price bracket. Having said that, I wore it today for the first time & it felt pretty amazing...
I have such fond memories of it, though! Funny, I too have also been looking for it since high school. I'm also always looking for vintage containers of Love's Baby Soft from the 70's...I even found some on Ebay from the above-referenced seller on who got them at an estate sale, but I thought she was charging way too much. I had no idea she'd be here, posting!
Anyway, my wish is that Dana, or whomever, would do a re-issue of all of the Love's products, from Musky Jasmin to Baby Soft to Rain Scent, in all in their original 1970's packaging. Those items meant so much to me growing up!! If only I'd had ANY idea they'd stop making them, I would have bought a dozen, just to look at and keep forever! Sigh. It makes me sad.
For what it's worth, I appreciated the "Babe" cologne reference, too. Two things I've been looking for my whole life as well from that time period are a spray mist that was called "Subtly Sexy"...that was not the brand name; I can't remember the brand name, but they made four or five light body sprays, and that was one. It smelled exactly like "Body on Tap" shampoo. The other one was "Tickle", a pink roll-on deodorant with a big, wide ball...it was my very first junior high deodorant, smelled great, & I loved it. There was also Farrah Fawcett shampoo & conditioner, but that's long gone, & in light of her recent passing, I'm sure that anything available will be $$$. Oh, sorry, but I just remembered Love's Baby soft made a shampoo, too! If they could add that to the re-issue list, I'd be in Heaven.
I'm so glad I found this message board! I love it! |

| I feel the same way. When I think of how I used to walk into any drugstore with ten bucks in my hand and have my pick of all those cute little Loves' perfumes. It is awful that we have to be on here begging and pleading with people for overpriced old bottles with sprayers that don't even work, when all Dana has to do is look up the original Loves Musky Jasmine Formula and mix the damn thing up. I too get so nostalgic for those old innocent scents. I loved my Verve by Prince Matchabelli also, and my lip Kissing coolers, i think they were by covergirl or maybelline. I loved when people ,made a fuss over how wonderful I smelled and it was my little secret how affordable and adorable the loves products were. I never found a substitute that even came close. It is frustrating because the solution is simple. We all just want an afforable brand new fresh bottle of Loves Musky Jasmine. Is that so much to ask? They can re-release it as vintage classic and make a fortune. |

I too have all the fond memories of Love's Musky Jasmine Flower....boys always said "Wow...you smell great!", lol. I bought some 'Soft Jasmine' from ebay and it's nice, but NOT the same. Has anyone else tried the "Child" by Susan Owens? Is it similar?
From what I understand, Love's was bought out a few times, so a remake could be next to impossible if the formula went with somebody else, etc.
Please continue to post whatever you find gals!

| I thought you ladies would get a kick out of my story........ I am a 40 year old guy. I started dating a girl in high-school, we were both 16 years old. Madly in love. That scent DID drive me nuts.... Something about it. Spent many a fine evening under 'dashboard lights' in my old Malibu. Well, I am still married to that girl, we have 3 children together. I sure wish I could find some of this to give her (indirectly me, ha-ha) for a christmas present. If you ever find some let me know......... |

There's a place near me that sells Child so I'm going to go and smell it. I will ROFL if it turns out that Jennie Garth was running around smelling like Love's Musky Jasmin all those years ago. Hey guess what Jennie Garth, it was a "man magnet" for me too, and I paid 10x less for it. Hahahahaha. |

| Re: Love's Musky Jasmine |
| Hi All, I am ordering the Child today to see how it smells. I am turning 45 this year and Love's Musky Jasmine was my favorite. It was manufactured by a company called Memm for Love's. I bought the last case in 1996 from them. I believe they are long gone now. It may be that DANA does not have the formula. I wanted all of you to know there is a company on line that swears they can duplicate any scent, either from a data base or a sample sent in. I am trying this as well. The name of the company is Scent Matchers and it is www.Scentmatchers.com. I will let everyone know how this turns out with both of the orders. I lived in the San Fernanado Valley in Ca in the 1970's and we all wore Loves, I guess I am not the only on missing this scent and the old days. |

| Re: Love's Musky Jasmine |
| Ok - I ordered "Child" for a whopping $84. It arrived the other day and I was sooo excited to try it out. Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it was a poor imitation. It had a slight resemblance to Love's Musky Jasmine but it was much too flowery and it lacked the deep sensual undertones of Musky Jasmine. So, I'm very depressed and officially giving up on the search for a replica---there just isn't one! |

| OMG!! I am so glad to have found this string. As a teenager growing up in the 70s, Love's Musky Jasmine was the only perfume I wore and I always got compliments from guys saying how great the perfume smelled. I have been thinking about this perfume lately and have been wanting to purchase it too. Thus, I Googled it and found this string that has been going on since 2004!! WOW!! So, I will definitely check out the suggestions on where to buy it. I feel like I have gone back in time! Can't you just hear the Doobie Brothers now along with Chicago, Three Dog Night, the Eagles, Loggins and Messina, and the list goes on and on!! |

| THe Child Perfume arrived today. I must say that I think this is as close as we are ever going to get. I compared them side by side and it is shocking how close they are. It is expensive but well worth it. We will probably never find an exact match, but I dare say this is nearly the same scent. It will satisfy the longing for sure! |

I've been searching for Love's Musky Jasmine, too! I remember wearing that back in high school and it was ohhhh soooo sexy - or at least, my b/f back then thought so! I adored the scent & am very curious to hear the feedback on "Child" if that's our only option, these days.
Wow, I can almost smell it now: so soft, so subtle, soooo high school happy times!

Could you please, please, please bring back the classic scent of LOVE'S MUSKY JASMINE... Not the "Soft Jasmine," but the real thing? There are sooo many people out there who love this classic perfume, and you just can't find it anywhere!!! I had always bought it until it was discontinued, and then I found a few bottles on ebay, but I can't even find that anymore! And this is a scent that has never gone "out of style."
Is there anything I can do to convince you to bring back MUSKY JASMINE???
Thank You!!! :-) |

You would think that with all the "retro" interest now-a-days they would bring this back as classic vintage retro musky jasmin all of us who used to weat it would buy it as well as new teenagers who need a fresh innocent scent to wear.
It's a no brainer. Why is it so hard to convince them? |

| I printed out this whole blog 3 times and mailed it with a letter to the CEO of Dana Classic perfumes. I got a message from him once, called him back and left a message and never heard back. I called a few times after that and left a message, still no reply. I've also recently faxed this whole blog to them, again, with no response. I'm not giving up, but I'm wasting alotta paper here, LOL! They obviously insist on being stupid and ignoring this whole thing. I've emailed to the same address, too. I got a response from the receptionist saying "I forwarded your message to the CEO". That was a month ago. No reply. Do we need to fly to Florida and picket outside their office? I feel like we do, but I'm not doing it. Maybe we should start writing to other fragrance companies and tell them to match and market the scent. They'd be fools not to. Or maybe contact a famous person - like Paris Hilton. I actually have her managers email address on a biz card somewhere. You know how they come out with fragrances with their names on it, but someone else came up with the scent? She'd make more money than she already has with this stuff - it's awesome! |

| I am glad to know that Loves Musky Jasmine has so many fans. I wore it in the 8th grade and I miss it terribly. The first time I smelled Philosophy's Amazing Grace it reminded me of Musky Jasmine but only for a second. Amazing Grace smells really soapy to me compared to the freshness of Musky Jasmine. You might be interested to know that by chance I combined Narcisco Rodriguez for Her with Fragonard Billet Doux. The combo smells a lot like Loves Baby Soft Musky Jasmine but a bit less fresh. Even so the combination of the two is very pretty. Reading this thread makes me so sad to think I will never smell the real thing again. |

I have found that mixing the Soft Jasmin (which is still readily available) with Coty's Wild Musk (also still available) gives the closest fragrance I can find to what I remember the Love's Musky Jasmin smelling like. Some years ago, emailed the president of Coty to inquire about this scent, and the possibility of bringing it back. Told him to check out how many people are looking for it. Received a reply that they may have some in the "warehouse" and he instructed an employee to send it to me. Never got it...
Anyway, hope someday we can all get our hands on some. Viva la 70's!!!!!! |

| I saw some posts above comparing Love's Musky Jasmin to Child perfume. When I was around 18 or so I wore Musky Jasmin. I may have forgotten exactly how it smelled, but I have a bottle of Child I got years ago and if the Musky Jasmin of my youth smelled much like Child does, I know for sure I wouldn't like the Love's product now! Someone else referred to Child as cloyingly sweet and too floral and I would have to agree. The smell of Child has nearly turned me off to any jasmine scent now. I hate that stuff! I can't even imagine I ever liked Love's Musky Jasmin if it smelled like this one does. The musk is missing from the Child fragrance, I think. Just "eww" on the Child perfume. I would sell the stuff if my daughter hadn't confiscated it. |
