Re: Tigress By Faberge
Hi Tina,

I can with all confidence say, that the Vermont Store's version of fake TIGRESS does not even begin to hold a candle to the sublime original. I fell into that trap and a while back bought the Vermont Store's Version, and BOY, was I sorry.

Anyone who has a 'sharp' or acute sense of smell, will be able to detect most nuances of fragrances when they get 'changed' by other companies who deviate from the original, which is the case with the Vermont Store's horrible version of TIGRESS. But that's just my opinion. I still wouldn't shell out $40.00 for that garbage.

Re: Tigress By Faberge
I have a TON of this stuff! I have everything from the perfume to the soap to the powder to the shampoo to the conditioner and the bath gel! It was a favorite of my husband's years ago so I thought that I would try it. I bought this stuff up like crazy only to realize that I personally don't care for it. If you or anyone on this site would like to purchase it from me then please email me and make an offer. I will tell you in detail exactly what I have if you are interested. I'm not looking to make a profit on this at all.... Just want to recoup a little and get rid of it out of my bathroom. Thank you; Jenny

Long lost perfume IRMA SHORELL just emailed back response about Wild cat the orignal protected perfume "Tigress", wild cat was the name they used for it since the name Tigress couldn't be used in the USA. Although it was the same formula the name had a patient on it and owner wouldn't allow the name to go with the perfume formula. This was their response to my request they bring it back.

"Unfortunately for Tigress lovers the product now entering the market doesn't have the original scent character. We just didn't have enough interest in Wild Cat to keep it going, although it is a beautiful perfume. "

Re: Tigress By Faberge
I found making my own was close to the smell I loved so much. I always got complements when I wore them.
I took Tabu and sprayed my pulse points, and neck and my boer bristle hair brush, and then waited a minute, then took full strength sandalwood oil the heartwood kind and placed it over where I sprayed the Tabu. Brushed my hair with brush to help with wind blowing the scent across the room. The scent is so very close and heady to the Tigress perfume. Once they marry on your skin, plus your body chemistry you will love it. More of a personal scent, body chemistry makes it unique to each wearer.

Re: Tigress By Faberge
Nothing else smells like Tigress or Woodhue by Faberge. They are both very heady fragrances and not a bit "sweet". Both are also very hard to find. Yesterday I saw a 12 oz bottle of Tigress on the web for $1000, and it wasn't even the cologne "extrordinaire" ! I too wish I had bought a lot before they were discontinued. They are becoming more precious every day.

Re: Tigress By Faberge
OMG!!! I can hardly believe what I'm reading about Tigress! You are all gonna scream...I have a vintage bottle in front of me as I type, has to be 12 oz. With about 1 oz. Used by me back in the 70's!! My godfather gave it to me when I was 13 (1963 or so), and had my tonsils removed. I am a 56 yr old grandma now, and have a box of things here that I've been researching to sell. This bottle is wonderfully cut, clear glass with the orange-gold cologne inside. A REAL WOOD top is covered with a Tiger print VELVET material!! I just had to dab some on, it's been years since I wore it, but have kept it out of the sun on my dresser with my other scents. I DETEST not being altruistic about this, but actually thought that someday it WOULD come in handy if necessary. Right now it is, as I'm trying to pay off a large debt. So, if you are ready to start your engines ladies and/or gents, I will sell it to the highest bidder. :' (

Re: Tigress By Faberge
Just checked with the Vermont Store and they say the perfumes, Tigress and Woohue, are the same but not made by Fabrege, and they do not have samples, so it would be difficult to know if they have indeed duplicated the scent. I also saw Tangee lipstick on their site and that smell certainly would bring back some memories for me and all my girlfriends!

Re: Tigress By Faberge
Let me tell you a story. I had an aunt pass away about a year ago. While we were going through her things to send to the salvation army, my husband found 3 boxes of this perfume unused wrapped in newspaper from 1973. There were 2 sets that were a combo of soap and powder and 1 giant 12 ounce bottle that was completely full. I looked it up on ebay and found the crazy prices for this stuff. I do not really remember this sent because I was born in 1977, but I remember my mom had and empty bottle in her room for a few years. I sold the 2 set on ebay and they both went for $60 and $80. And get this, my 12 ounce full bottle sold for $480.00. It was a bidding frenzy. I have no idea why my aunt held on to those bottles for so long or why she did not at least use them. Good luck to anyone who finds it for cheap.

I agree.... I think the older perfumes are more concentrated because some alcohol evaporates and leave more oil. I have found this to be true with all my favorite old scents. The old concentrated originals get my vote over any of the imitations !

Can a guy chime in? :) I was looking for this perfume for my girlfriend and came across this discussion. She is only 24, so she has never had the pleasure of smelling this beautiful and very sexy fragrance.

Mamma Mia! Tigress used to drive me CRAZY back in the day. I have not smelled anything like it since and would love to have that olfactory treat back in my life.

It appears that the only stock available is the original left over from decades ago. It’s a shame some enterprising fragrance manufacturer doesn’t try to buy the formula...or perhaps they have and it is just not available.

I would like to track down a Faberge 'Musk' perfume that I was given as a Christmas present back in 1981. The giver was the sister of a boyfriend at that time - and I have been unable to find it since. The scent was heavenly - not sweet or flowery - just warm and indulging.

It was packed in a moss green box with a velvety top and just printed in gold lettering, it said 'Musk by Faberge'. Any suggestions as to what variety this was or whether it is still available would be appreciated.

Thanks

I stumbled across your blog by sheer accident, and realized I have something a lot of people seem to want . . .

In chasing down a personal favorite (Belle de Jovan), I purchased a 'lot', which included a Tigress box.

What I seem to have is a full, 1/8 oz. "Fabergette" roll-on of Tigress perfume.

Yeah, perfume, per the gold printing on the bottle, and the box.

And this is Faberge, per the bottle and the box.

The box looks brand new, barely even any shelf-wear.

I gotta get this listed on eBay (I'm 'MzDallas' on eBay).

Per the listings I am finding for mere cologne, this must be worth quite a bit, but I am going to need to research what the price needs to be.

Any ideas/suggestions?

OK, Listen up, People!!!! Daisy is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME, DO NOT PURCHASE 'TIGRESS' COLOGNE FROM 'THE VERMONT COUNTRY STORE'. REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY TELL YOU, IT IS NOT,NOT,NOT THE ORGINAL FRAGRANCE BUT SOME HIGHLY WATERED DOWN SUBSTITUTE, THAT CAN'T EVEN HOLD A CANDLE TO THE ORIGINAL, HEADY, SUBLIME, SCENT OF FABERGE TIGRESS.

If, you are like me (a CONFIRMED Perfumephile) then, you will go to eBay and do a World-wide search, and there you will find the ORIGINAL Tigress by Faberge. If you want it that badly, then, you will opt for even a 'used' bottle. It's worth it, providing you don't pay too much for it.

THERE EXISTS NO FRAGRANCE LIKE THE ORIGINAL FABERGE TIGRESS. And 'THE VERMONT COUNTRY STORE' is selling a huge rip-off, it smells NOTHING like the original, for those of you who know the REAL thing, like I do.

Any questions on any rare perfume or cologne, just ask. Happy Hunting!!!

Re: Tigress By Faberge
Hello Grace, that's lovely that you're a Perfumer. Tigress DEFINITELY needs to be reintroduced to the world at a reasonable price, with the ORIGINAL SCENT - NOTHING OMITTED. With a reasonable price, more people will be able to afford it, and will buy, not to mention, the sales will be astronomical. It'll be very difficult to keep this sublime, heady scent on shelves.

If you can accomplish this, more power to you, in the meantime, please do list your Tigress on eBay, the best source of original perfumes/fragrances on this globe.

Much luck and success in your perfume endeavors, Grace!

The original Faberge' Tigress was one of my favorite perfumes in high school. (Oh, the memories!...lol) I really wish someone would bring back the original at an affordable price.

I remember buying a Faberge' 4-pack of perfumes (like a gift set) with colored wooden or felt caps (Tigress' cap had felt tiger stripes) in the late '60's/early '70's. Tigress and Woodhue were 2 of the perfumes, which were also my favorites of the 4. A third bottle had a red wooden cap, and I think the 4th bottle's wooden cap was bluish-black. They were NOT called Straw Hat or Babe. I can't remember the names of those other 2 perfumes. It's driving me batty! Ha!Ha!

Your best bet is STILL eBay, and I always make it a point of asking the Seller IF the perfume still smells good, and if Seller's answer is hestitant or vague, I DON'T BUY. Other than that, I've been lucky and the Faberge Tigress I've bought on eBay, has smelt like I've remembered it.

I have three bottles of Tigress that i would like to sell on ebay as a buy now, thats not an auction but just a set price. Two of the bottles are large and have about an oz left, one bottle is full to top and has the fur lid and is one full oz, so all together it is about 3 oz, my price is reasonable , $50.00. If anybody wants a picture email me please, i wont list these unless i get some interest. Thank you all, and they all still smell nice.

Just saw your posting, and just in case no one has beaten me to it, you can find Tigress at the Vermont Country Store (www.vermontcountrystore.com)---I almost flipped when I saw it; I immediately ordered it, and haven't regretted it. Still the same wonderful scent!!

Re: Tigress By Faberge
OK, OK---I just posted a message and then read all the gazillion other postings saying that the "version" of Tigress sold by The Vermont Country Store is "no good". Well...for $40 it's close enough---until I'm willing to pop for the price at Vintage! I recently bought a bottle of Femme by Rochas at Fragrance.net, which I wore all through college and loved. What they sent me is nice: but it's NOT the scent I remember EXACTLY--not as sweet. I wonder if our younger noses smelled something different in perfume than our older noses do. The Tigress smells pretty much the same to me---but maybe not EXACTLY the same. Has memory built up my expectations? Do our tastes change that much?

I just found this message board last night and see lots and lots of posters are looking for Tigress and its sister colognes. I remember loving Tigress as a kid, too, and find I am still drawn to the same type of perfumes. Don't know if anyone else thinks that Lagerfeld's Sun Moon Stars is close, but you might go test some and see what you think.

Sonia & Ladies!

STAY AWAY FROM THE VERMONT COUNTRY STORE!!!!

They do NOT have the Original Faberge TIGRESS what they have is a FAKE, badly-made copy!!! I bought it and was bitterly disappointed - it is NOTHING LIKE THE SUBLIME ORIGINAL BY FABERGE!!!!!

But if you choose to buy it from the Vermont Country Store, do so at your own risk. I also bought 'Straw Hat' from them, thinking that it was the Faberge STRAW HAT, well, it was SO VILE, that it made me physically ill!!! Need I say more?!
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY on these VERY MEDIOCRE FAKES!!!!
You're best bet is to try eBay, because should you NOT like what you get, you can send it back for a refund, providing you haven't used it all!!!

Good Luck!

I typed in "Tigress perfume" on a search engine and came up with Tigress Captivates by Frangrances Of France. I just ordered it, it claims to be almost identical to the original. I remember the original quite vividly so I will happy to let you know what the quality is when I recieve my bottle. Tigress was discontinued in the 1970's like Interlude was and I just loved both very much. Thankfully I can still buy Interlude but Tigress is a good guess as to what Im going to get. We shall see.

Ive found some web sites for you: The vermont Store.com has what appears to be the authentic Tigress 2.7 oz for 40.00 plus shipping, also Ive found a web site that carries the real Tigress from the 1970's and its really expensive but authentic indeed: Nellbutler.com $195.00 for the smaller size 2oz and $395.00 for the large bottle around 4oz. Good luck. I do think the Vermont Store is your best bet though.

Woodhue
Just bought the pricey www.thefragrancefactory.com Woodhue. It really is the 'real deal' and the bottle was tightly sealed and carton perfect shape. With age, the cork liner in the bottle cap had literally 'welded' itself to the mouth of the bottle - probably a good thing as the cologne was in perfect shape after 40 or so years. Just as I remembered from those halcyon days of my youth.

I am glad though that I purchased and it is what it is supposed to be! Brings back memories for sure. If your looking for the REAL DEAL In Faberge Fragrance www.thefragrancefactory.com is the place to go they also sell the real "Tigress,Straw Hat,Babe, and all the other rare ones.

Re: Tigress By Faberge
The Vermont Country Store was almost a perfect match to the faint smell left in one of my bottles left from 1968. Then I accidently left the bottle uncapped and the next day noticed the smell was 'more' like I remembered it. For $40, I figured, why not and left it uncapped 2 more days to let some of the alcohol evaporate. I think it worked and for $40 I did the same with thei version of Woodhue. I like wearing both together. So while VCS isn't perfect- I'd say it's worth $40.

I to am looking for the tigress perfume that was sold in the nickel and dime store back in the late 60 and 70.
I don't know if any one remembers that you could pick a small bottle of it and the little bottle of "evening in paris"
The tigress perfume came in a small bottle with a cloth tiger like cloth on the cap.
I have search in all the dime stores to no avail.
What ever happened to it.It was a soft and delicate perfume.

I never did get around to posting it for sale on ebay, and not sure I want to now cuz it smells so great! But, if any interest, you can email me at cabingirl@nycap.rr.com. I personaly think that some of us want to scare others about the Vermont country store so that you will buy theres that they may be selling on Ebay. I would give it a try I did and it smells at least 90% to the real thing. My mom has the real and you have to keep smelling it over and over to see what one is which. Just my opinion. Until you can aford 200 dollars I owuld try it.

Re: Tigress By Faberge
It looks like the difference between Vermont Country Store at $40.00 and nellbutler.com at $275.00 is that VCS sells the cologne, and nellbutler lists the perfume. That was the ratio of prices in the 70s, too, and would explain the difference in scent that the other posters are reporting.
I remember the cologne was clearly inferior to the perfume, even back then.

A fragrance afficionado who is the published author of UNDERLYING NOTES (2007; 276 pgs.), sold at Amazon...I, too, am skeptical of purchasing Tigress from The Vermont Country Store. I recently purchased "To a Wild Rose," originally launched by Avon. The fragrance is nothing at all like the lovely scent I remembered. This was my favorite perfume and I was disheartened when it was discontinued. LET ME TELL YOU - THE ONES YOU SEE ON E-BAY ARE FAKE!

How do I know? Cause, in the first place, the bottles they put out (and the fake fur on the top cap) are a dead give-a-way.

You will not find any because of the age of what is left, it is impossible you will find any. If you see an ad for a 'copy' I would trust that - but the 'rare' ads for Tigress are just trying to rob you.

@ Judy

Wow! That was an interesting post.

I have worn Faberge Tigress since the 1960's. I have purchased several Tigress products on eBay and some recently from the fabergecolognes.com site to give to my sisters for their birthdays. It's exactly what I wore in high school and the fur is the same too.

I never post messages to these things, but your comment was too wild to dismiss without a response.

Buy the fake because at least it's fake? Is that what was said? Wow!

I've searched and searched, but I know the original Tigress was discontinued years ago. I have found a scent that is very similar. It reminds me so much of Tigress. It is Sensual Amber by Bath and Body Works. If you were a Tigress fan, you will love this. I promise.
