Original Guess Perfume

Hi there! Does anyone know where I can get a bottle of the Original Womens Guess perfume, other than ebay, (the 3.4oz. Preferrably)...the bottle is twisted and has a black cap. And, why did they discontinue it...I have worn it for years? Is the new one similar? Are they going to bring the old one back? Does anyone have any info?? Thanks :)

Re: Original Guess Perfume
Hi, I am also a BIG fan of the original traiangular-twisted bottle with the black cap as is my mother. She is turning 50 soon and knows little about the net. She also has been searching everywhere and can't find the perfume. I hope to find it for her birthday. I noticed a post to try myperfume.com. I will try. Jill

Re: Original Guess Perfume
OK, but is it old? when fragrances get old, they smell stale. I don't want to throw out more money (I had to throw out the new Guess; it really stinks.)

Re: Original Guess Perfume
Yes, it is the only perfume I love! It does get stale though. I've had the same bottle for over ten years. Even though there was only one squirt left I saved it. Thanks for posting your comments so we know we're not alone! ;) I am going to some of those sites now to find it!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I was told that they discontinued the perfume because it stained clothes. I never had that problem and it is the best smelling scent out there. Please come back I need you. There is also no perfume out there that is related in smell.

Re: Original Guess Perfume
It is hard to find the 3.4 oz bottle. I ordered a bottle from perfume bay.com but it is small. I also wore this fragrance for many years and was bummed when they discontinued it. I tried other kinds that people say are like it but they were not.The new guess that is clear smells like ck1 so to answer your question no it is not like it at all. Have a good day!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I have no idea if they are going to bring the old one back, i love it too so I wish they would! If you go on google and search for perfume there are a few sites that have it cheaper than ebay. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the new one, it smells NOTHING like the old one!!!!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
The Original Guess, in the twisted bottle can be purchased at these two sites, however it is very expensive.

Www.perfumebay.com & www.perfumedistributor.com

They have it in perfume, eau de parfum, & eau de toilette.

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I was given a bottle of the original Guess perfume when I was 13 and after trying probably around 100 different scents in the twelve years since then, have never worn anything that comes close to delivering the warmth and sensuality that that fragrance enveloped me in. I still keep a bottle of the body creme and smell it from time to time - for the memories. I miss that fragrance and would give up all my others if they would bring it back. I can, however, recommend some scents I've tried which contain similar notes, though not all of the ones in that fabulous potion. They are: XOXO Heartbeat, CK Obsession, Burberry (original), and Graahm Webb's Bodacious, although I think that may have been discontinued as well. Happy Hunting, ladies!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I, too, absolutely love the original Guess. I had found on a forum somewhere a while ago that someone said "Eau Rosee" by Mariella Burani smelled like Guess. I purchased some and can personally attest that is does NOT smell like it at all (though it's not a bad perfume)! I'm going to try a couple of other scents that are said to mimic the scent, and I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I also tried Mariella Burani 'Eau Rosee' based on someone's opinion that it was similiar to the original Guess fragrance. Was very disappointed to find that it is nothing like it, and glad to see another posting on here where someone else said the same thing. (Wondered if it was just me.) I too would LOVE to find a similiar scent but Eau Rosee is not it.

Yay, I finally found other people out there desperately looking for this fragrance too. I used to wear it in high school and loved it. My mom literally bought me a bottle a month and now I wish she would have stocked up. I want to contact someone about bringing this back but have no idea where to start? Anyone?

Re: Original Guess Perfume
Ladies I know what you mean this fragrance was a once and a lifetime experience. I still remember the way men loved it and women who didn't have it begged to know what it was! Ok. I found out that the company that originally made it is called Parlux. The phone number to them is 1-954-316-9008. If calling from a cell leave off the the 1 because it says all circuits are busy when you call from a cell and use the 1. Ask the operator and she will connect you to a ladies voice mail. Please leave a message. They will call you back! I think we should all around the world unite and beg them to bring this back to us! It is well worth it and no company could ever compare to that scent not ever!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I have a bottle of the new Guess, although it has a decent smell, it is NOTHING like the original Guess. Why in the world would a company discontinue such a wonderful smelling perfume?
Someone said because it stained clothes, I wore it for mannnnnny years, always sprayed or dabbed it on my clothes and never once did any piece of clothing became stained.
This is the 2nd. Perfume that was my favorite to become discontinued.

Hey everyone! Like everyone else here I was very upset as well that they discontinued the orginal Guess. Now, it has been quite a while since I have smelled it, but Liz Claiborne Spark comes close if I remember correctly. Of course, now THAT perfume is discontinued as well. Seems like anytime I find one I LOVE, it gets discontinued!! Anyway, hope that helps someone!

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I am sorry if you are offended that we have something that people are looking for and just want to let them know we have it. When someone posts a request we reply to them. As for the price, we pay a lot to purchase these rare items from our suppliers to have them available for our customers. Thank you, Sarah
posted 12/17/09 by Sarah

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I think it's outrageous that anyone would try to charge $130.49 plus $9.95 for an .25 fl. Oz. Of perfume. Granted it' is nearly impossible to get the original Guess, and as much as I love the scent, I would not pay a ridicules amount for it and I think it's a shame that people price stuff so high because it is no longer available to the public. AND I do understand business, but I also KNOW it's not right to scr*w people
posted 12/19/09 by Sherry

Re: Original Guess Perfume
Oh I know it is outrageous and everyday that goes by our suppliers raise the price for discontinued perfumes because they know they can. So we pay their price and then post the items for sale. We have so many customers that look for their favorite discontinued fragrances that we like to at least have them available for them.

The original Guess perfume has been the only scent I've loved. Nothing compares to it until now...I found the body spray made by BODY FANTASIES called Sexiest Musk Fantasy. Has anyone used one of the "original" bottles in recent months or even years? I've found it on a couple of websites but am hesitant to purchase because I'm afraid the scent would now be so weak as the perfume is now close to 20 yrs old...any thoughts? Thanks!

I did recently purchase a bottle on Ebay and while I was a bit concerned it would be weak now that its about 20 years old, it wasn't! Still has the lasting fragrance and strength as it did if purchased new...eventually all of the old bottles will be history though so let's all keep our fingers crossed it makes a come-back!!

Hi!
I just purchased a 3.4 fl. Ounce size of the Original Guess Twist bottle EDT at an estate sale. It is FULL and in the ORIGINAL box. I would be willing to sell it for $80.00 plus actual shipping to your location. Anyone out there interested - email me at dzwiff@hotmail.com

Re: Original Guess Perfume
The only reason that fragrances are discontinued is because they don't sell well enough to make a profit for the manufacturer. It is highly unlikely that they will bring it back. You can find a very good version of the original Guess at a very good price at www.moreperfume.com

Re: Original Guess Perfume
I found the old original guess perfume at FragranceMe.com, they have multi bottles in different sizes. They have the 1.7 oz for $27.17. The bigger bottle is sold out. I am wondering if I should try it. All the other web sites I find are $80-$130. I think I am going to try it. But I wanted to share my info. I'll post after I recieve it.

For those looking at guess at fragranceme
Look again, check the details and it shows it
Was made in 2008, the original Guess was made
Much earlier than that, so Im guessing this is not
The original, despite the photo of the twisted bottle
Too many red flags on this one, for one its too cheep.
Just my 2cents worth

Re: Original Guess Perfume
Two things: If anyone is still looking for something similar to the original Guess, I found Guess Gold to be somewhat similar. Not close enough to be a permanent substitute, but it has some of the same qualities I remember liking about the original. Please sample it somewhere before buying, if you can, because I seem to recall others thinking they weren't similar at all, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Also, I bought a rather nice (and much more similar) knock-off here: http://www.fromcairo.com/Perfume/marcianol_oils_women.htm

This is a perfume *oil* blend, but I actually prefer that. As always, your mileage may vary, but the price is very reasonable. As far as risks go, this is a small one. I should note that it's been so long since I smelled the original Guess that my memory of it is pretty vague (other than remembering that it had a creamy/spicy Oriental smell on me, and that I adored it), and if you've smelled it more recently, you may notice more differences. Also bear in mind that it's not marketed as an exact duplicate, but the key notes are the same (particularly the oakmoss, which is think is why this version works so well for me) and the intent is to resemble the original (and on me, at least, it succeeds).

Just something to consider if you're not having any luck with newer commercial perfumes and you don't want to risk forking over a lot of cash for a small amount of potentially stale or otherwise compromised vintage perfume.
