Re: China Rain
Hi Heidi,

I just found this message board two days ago, and I see no one's replied to your question about the amazing China Rain! I first found out about China Rain 20 years ago, when working as a hairstylist. A client was in my chair, & I was in awe of the amazing scent she was wearing...begged her to tell me what is was! I used to be able to buy it at a wonderful boutique in Sherman Oaks, Body Scents, which has since closed down. I then found it at a boutique on Melrose, the Soap Plant, that is also gone now. I'm still searching! The thing about China Rain is that many, many of the companies that make perfume oils (true versions are ONLY perfume oils) have versions of China Rain that are AWFUL, & no representation of what it should be. Generally, any "crunchy granola" company that makes oils like "Egyptian Goddess" & the like will have a version of China Rain that is hideous. Real China Rain is a soft white floral, slightly musky...just delicious & amazing. Very non-harsh...just soft & clean. My boyriend at that time (20 years ago) is now married w/two kids and we don't even speak to each other any more, but to this day he STILL thinks of me every time he smells China Rain. It is awesome. If I ever find a good one again, I'll post here.

Hope that helps!!

Re: China Rain
There is a place in Madison Wi on State St. Called the Soap Opera - they sell China Rain in little vials of the oil. It smells super great - I started buying this 20 yrs ago and they still have it and it still smells the same. Check on internet for their website- good luck if you need more info let me know- i live only 40 min away from there and I can call or get more info for you. Thanks - simply love China Rain too!!

Re: China Rain
I know this thread is truly outdated, but I hoped others might gain from my experience as I have been down QUITE the road looking for original China Rain. I finally know what's going on & have found it. Mind you I first had a terrible experience on Amazon.com by purchasing "China Rain from Body Time" from a seller named Hallaleveryday. What I got was some horrible bright red product that reeked of alcohol & chemicals & I had to open a case against the seller. Psychotic, crazy man. ANYHOW...I won't bore you with all the research I went through...email me & I'll be more than happy to tell you...but there are TWO brands currently fighting for the name of original China Rain: Body Time and Terra Nova. I actually went back to the shop I used to buy CR from 20 years ago, & when I looked at my receipt, it said "China Rain/Terra Nova" (they fill in clear glass bottles). So assume anything you buy from Terra Nova will work, as I have it on right now & am totally going down memory lane. Body Time definitely has the original, but you MUST buy it from the online store in Berkely...NOT an individual seller. It's $7 for the oil & $8 for the shipping...overpriced shipping, I know, but WELL worth it. Ahh. So glad this search has finally come to an end. It is amazing to have finally found this treasure again...

Re: China Rain
Wow...I haven't been to this website in two years!! Anyway, I'm dismayed at what I've read because I just ordered some China Rain from BodyTime...I've searched for it since my last post to no avail. Based on the previous post, I guess it's going to smell terrible...and it WAS expensive...shipping was crazy. Regarding the post about finding it from Auric Blends...that's the one I hate that I was referring to! The crunchy granola company. They actually call it "Chinese Rain", and I'm glad it works for the poster. I'll try the one from the Soap Factory place...and I'll post my thoughts about the BodyTime one. Sigh. It used to be so easy to buy...
