Herbessence By Helena Rubinstein
Does anyone know of a scent that smells even remotely similar to Herbessence by Helena Rubinstein? This was one of the "greats" of the 70's. I have just a tiny bit of the oil left that once belonged to my mom. I have to open it every now and then just to take a whiff... It brings back so many happy, precious memories.
My other personal favorite was GALORE by Germaine Monteil. It honestly made me severely depressed whenever 5 Star took over this line. It doesn't even come close to the original and has zero staying power. I have never found anything close to resembling this magnificent fragrance. The lotion, oil & perfume were to die for!

Thank you Wanda for the info, but as much as I love (and long for!) the original Galore, $100 - $300 for a tiny .5 oz bottle is more than I'm willing to fork over.
Sad thing is, a lady told me they had a large bottle of Galore from the original makers (Scandia) on Ebay a few days ago that sold for $28. I was out of town at the time so she couldn't get hold of me to let me know.
I'll try to keep a closer watch on Ebay.

| Herbessence was the best ! i spent many years trying to find a replacement...closest i came was a little shop that mixed body oils for you...we started with a patchouli base. It wasn't the same, but the nearest so far. I've also watched for it at The Vermont Country Store. They carry things you haven't seen in years...like Tangee lipstick lol...too bad my granny has long passed on |
