On the bottom of my original bottle it says Shields/Dante'
New York, NY distibutors
Around the neck it says Dante' Centurian
Hope this helps

I keep everything
It still smells as good as it did in the early seventies when I bought it. I only have 1/2 inch left of a 6oz. Bottle sitting next my Hai Karate, Brute and Old Spice collection. |

| I would also love to find Dante' again...I fell in love with my husband and the cologne he wore back in the late 60's...would love to surprise him with a bottle...if you locate please let me know as well. Thanks |

| My husband use to use Dante and only Dante way back when he was in the Navy...we have been trying to find Dante for almost 30 years now so if anyone knows where we can get some please let me know...would love to give it to him for his 62 birthday..Thanks..Connie |

| Well in the last year I have seen several bottles of Dante go in the neighborhood of $75 to $300 on ebay. I recently purchased an 8 oz unopened bottle for $178. Good luck! |

| SAY FOLKS, LET ME MENTION THAT THERE WAS A CHEAP "RIP OFF" OF DANTE BACK IN THE 70S,MADE BY J.B. WILLIAMS MAKER OF AQUA VELVA THAT SMELLS THE SAME AND IS CHEAPER. THE BRAND WAS DEVIL'S POTION AND CAME IN A FLASK WITH FLAMES ON A PAPER LABEL. IF YOU CAN'T FIND DANTE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS IMITATION PROVIDED IT'S STILL AROUND. HANK GUPTON |

| Have a bottle of Devil's Potion. Was made by Leeming a division of Pfizer. Doesn't smell like Dante more like Brute only better. Maybe it's a cross of Dante and Brute. |

How strange.. My best friend who grew up in the 60's fell in love and marrie d this guy.. She told me he wore this cologne "dante".. It's in a red bottle. I just had it in my hand... The original..empty but she sniffs the empty bottle for the momories. I have been looking to buy this cologne as well .. I would love to surprize her with this. If I find it.. I will definately let You know. I know how much it means to her. It's just strange that I was holding this bottle hours ago and I see someone looking for it too.. I guess You could tell I don't go online all that much!
I will keep You posted.. I do tend to get lucky finding stuff.. :-)

| I bought a bottle of dante original cologne in 1971,two days before i got married. I used it on the day i got married and every year on our wedding anniversary i open up the bottle and smell the small remainder that is left. It brings me back to that day in 1971 in an instant. What a great cologne. Iwish it was still around. |

If anyone finds this cologne please let me know. I last bought it in the 70's at Menlo Mall in NJ. Johnnie Carson wore it and it came in a bottle with a plastic trophy cup as a cap.
Wasn't overly expensive, but I can't find it anymore. |

| Try REVEUR , by Mary Kay. It is a vintage discontinued fragrance that is 10 times easier to find on ebay, than Dante(based upon how many bottles of Dante I have seen that occasionally list on ebay. It is also much,much cheaper. Dante usually sells for $ 125-150 per bottle! Reveur can be had for as little as $3.00 (sometimes they sell small sample vials ,or ampules in ebay stores) I bought 90 a while back. It is a small plastic with a tear away top(similar to the VO5 hot oil treatment for hair. This is enough for about 7 days use as a little goes a long way,and lasts all day. I was lucky to buy my ampules for 5 bucks! If you cant find any , you can make arrangements through email, and I'll send you a few to try for free,..Gary. |

| I am going to try and put the last gift set of Dante 4 oz bottle of colonge, red writing on the bottle and a 4 oz bottle of after shave blue writing on the bottle, in a gift box on one of the auction sites this week. I think this is the very last complete gift set in tact and the bottles are are full to the top with the smell i remebered when i wore it in 1970 through 1974. After this i could no longer find the colonge. This gift set was posted on this site and i was very skeptical because my son had bought me a small bottle that had a little trophy on top and was not the same smell that i wore when i met the love of my life, and she used to tell me it was time to go home but please leave the sweater you are wearing so i can take this scent to bed with me. I promise this is the original complete box set..I always bought the product at J. C. Pennys for what i remember around five dollars per bottle and it came in red bottle for colonge and blue bottle for after shave in a very stylish curved bottle but this set is round and is the shields dante on the bottom of the bottle and distributed in NY. Make no mistake it must be the very last complete full bottles in existance. I can send pictures of the complete set and the only thing is when you open the bottle the seal sticks to the bottle when removing the lid, but easily is removed for taking a trip back in time and then reclosing. I only smell it and it takes me back to the times i hold dear like so many when they were in love in the early seventies. The strength of the smell is so powerfull and is the same you will remember. I opened the colonge while writing this message and after closing, i can still smell the most incredible scent ever concockted, why they stopped making this must have been the scarcity of the compound, because nothing even comes close to this unique scent. Please spread the word that it will be on the market this week running for seven days for bid. Not sure if i can bid off the two bottles seperately or not but i hate to break up the gift set and the beautiful box, a dark hunter green box with tan trim around the top edge of the box with the dante man in a cameo looking emblem with the word dante on the bottom of the emblem. The only writing on the back of the box is Dante, New York, N.Y. Distributor and under that the number 1084-0498-500... Please alert as many as possible the box set will be up for bid this week. | I gave up looking for Dante cologne. It seems that all of my searches were futile. I figured that it's just not being manufactured anymore. If anyone knows if it's going to be made again or for sale anywhere, please let me know. It's a shame that such a good cologne was discontinued. Please keep me in mind if anyone finds this cologne. | Tom r i have what i think is the last gift set of a full bottle of cologne and full bottle of after shave i can send pictures if you need me to but i will concider any offer for the gift set and ps this is the real mccoy not a bottle with other cologne in it. | This might be of interest for everyone here. I have researched Dante cologne for years and I finally secured the formula for it but decided not to secure the name. The lab has been able to produce it and now we are working on the production of it. It should be available in the Spring of 2010 and will be marketed as "MVB" for men. It will be in a huge 4.2 oz spray bottle and will retail for around $50.00. It will first be available on the following website http://www.myvegasbuddy.com and will be available at several casinos in Vegas.
