Heaven Scent

I am looking for a perfume from the 70's/80's called and spelled "Heaven Scent". I believe it had an angel on it with a gold band. Anyone out there remember this one????

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi there-
I have a 3 oz bottle of Heaven Sent by Helena Rubinstein. It is an eau de parfum spray mist. It is vintage, in a green foil box with a floral overall design.
It has an embossed basketweave design on a cylindrical bottle with an aqua ribbed top. There is a round sticker on the very top with a gold angel.
I'm going to put it on eBay soon, unless you'd like it.
Thanks,
Susan M.

Re: Heaven Scent
I have done a lot of research on Heaven Sent, and have found a lot of conflicting stories.

However, what I do know is this:
Heaven Sent was originally formulated by Helena Rubinstein in 1941.

In the 50's the company was purchased by Mem. They eventually quit making it due to sales not meeting quotas. Dana reformulated it and put it back on the market again due to high demand.

Now, You can find both MEM brand and Dana brands on the market.
Neither of these use the original formulation of Heaven Sent.

Dana, we all agree stinks!

MEM may be ok to some, because they are using an older, more familiar, formulation. Still, not original though.

Infinate Grace makes a version of Heaven Sent by Irma Shorell, Inc. Those of you that loved the original Helena Rubinstein version will probably love this. The Infinite Grace version actually uses the original formulation recipe!

I hope this will help those of you who are looking for an alternative besides Dana!

Alright, EVERYONE! STAY AWAY from VintageFragrance.com -they're a VERY SHADY operation, and there have been nightmare stories of people who have ordered from them, and then got their Credit Card IDs stolen. Not to mention that they don't seem to have a contact number.

Hmmmm...that does NOT bode well!!!!

Re: Heaven Sent
Again, People - it's HEAVEN SENT NOT 'Heaven Scent'. The Original Heaven Sent was created by Helena Rubenstein. It was later reformulated and sold to Mem and later to Dana who totally reformulated it - and it was HORRIBLE.

If you want to get the sublime original, your best bet is eBay. I've tried many sites, and they're all expensive. I've managed to get Heaven Sent for a fair price on eBay.

I've tried the IRMA SHORELL version of Heaven Sent called 'INFINITE GRACE' and having used the original Helena Rubenstein Heaven Sent, I can tell you, you're in for a big disappointment, because 'INFINITE GRACE' smells NOTHING like the original Heaven Sent. So, do yourselves a favour, and stick with the original.

Best of Luck

Re: Heaven Scent
TO EVERYONE...

BEWARE of 'VINTAGEFRAGRANCES.COM' For those of you who have read previous Posts on this particular Perfume Site - they are RIP-OFF Artists - they provide NO Telephone Number, etc.

They search 'Perfume Blogs' like this one, and send their 'Scouts' to tell people where to buy their expensive perfumes.

And these Fragrances are 'Decantered' in other words - they're taken from the bottle and distributed in much smaller amounts into their bottles. The cost for this is $69.50 for ONLY 15ml - and that's NOT including Postage, etc.

Anyone who promotes that RIP-OFF Site - is NOT on the Up and Up!!!

So, Buyer Beware and STAY AWAY. There was a person whose credit card ID number was charged and their ID stolen, and it became a Financial Nightmare!

Report them to the Moderator of this Blog!!!

Best of Luck

I grew up wearing Heaven sent perfume by dana corp. Back in the eighties the perfume and the compnay were sold. The comany renamed itself" the new dana corp." and reintroduced heavensent reformulated and without the space. The new scent has a more fruity smell were as the original has a more baby power smell. They are very similar but if you loved the original the new is just not the same. This info comes courtesy of five years of research as if it's not obvious I adore the original. Since longlostperfumes.com quit carrying the original and tigress they have become difficult to find. Please keep me posted and I will do the same.

Hello,

You should try eBay.com. They have "Heaven Sent" (not Scent) there ALL the time, and what makes it even better is that it's Vintage. In other words, from previous eras, if you happen to be looking for the original by Helena Rubenstein.

I buy MOST of my classic and discontinued Perfumes, Colognes, etc from eBay.

Try it, you won't regret it.

Good luck!

AGAIN, to all of you out there who are looking for this elusive Fragrance.

I wore it as a child, and the original bottle was in the shape of an hourglass that had a blue label with a gold cherub on it.

Oh, and by the way, the ORIGINAL 'HEAVEN SENT' was made by Helena Rubenstein NOT Dana, OR Mem.

You can still find the original 'Heaven Sent' on eBay, which should be your source for most vintage and classic perfumes, colognes, etc.

Good Luck AGAIN!!!

Re: Heaven Scent
During the 1950's & 1960's the ORIGINAL Heaven Sent was made by, & became a famous fragrance by Helena Rubenstein. Dana now makes it, & so it is a reformulated version. Nothing EVER is as good as the original. Once someone else gets the rights to a past popular fragrance, it seems they cheapen the aroma, & water it down. A lot of perfume sites carry this reformulated version.

Www.fragrancenet.com is one of them. My opinion, I wouldn't waste my $$$, as I used to use the Original & this is nothing like it.

Best, Wanda

If one were to go there NOW, scroll down the page to Vanity Items, & click on Vintage Colognes & Perfumes, then when that page comes up, click on page 2, & scroll down about half way, know what one would find ? Yep !! A 1 3/4 oz. Btl. Of the Original Heaven SENT. The price will make ya smile too, & you can even bid if you want.

Hi every one! I think this is the parfume I've been looking for, for the past several years. My grandma use to wear it in the 70's. I kinda remember the bottle. Can any one please discribe the sent to the best of your knowledge? The one my grandma use to wear smelled like a soft aroma a bouquet of jasmines and kinda powdery, it was a very nice soft youthful floral sent. I can still smell her perfume. She passed on 15 yrs ago. I regret never asking her the last time she came to visit us here, in CA from Tx. If this can help you, the scent of her perfume almost smells like California jasmine Desert scent. It's an air freshener, but it smells really good! To bad it's a room spray freshener. I love that scent!!!! They sell it at Wal-Mart. Please some one get back to me, ASAP Thanks!

Hello Lana,

Heaven Sent by Mem is NOT the original 'Heaven Sent' by Helena Rubenstein. And why pay $60.00 when you can get the Original and BEST Heaven Sent by Helena Rubenstein on eBay for a fraction of the price.

I should know because I've bought Heaven Sent on eBay quite a few times and have always been lucky, because the scent I grew up with was just as I remembered it. I was once able to buy 2 bottles of the original Heaven Sent for $9.99. Can't beat that. There are still many bottles of original Heaven Sent out there. All of the bottles that I have, other than the two I just received, smell just like I remember Heaven Sent in the 60s and 70s. I'd almost believe that someone put another fragrance in these two bottles that I just received, but thay smell exactly like each other although they were purchased from two different people.

Re: Heaven Scent
I have purchased some of the "original" Heaven Sent perfumes on E-bay supposedly made by Mem and even though they smell right, the fragrance doesn't last even five minutes after I put it on. Somebody is cheating us!! I sure wish somebody would come out with the original that lasts. I'm going to try the Intimate Grace route.

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi all,

This thread is very confusing....

My mum has always talked about this scent - however, I do not know which one!! She would have worn it in the 70s..

From what I can gather from this thread she was probably wearing Heaven Sent by Helena Rubinstein.. Is this most likely correct? and I went to 99perfumes.com they don't seem to have this version of it... Soooo is my best bet ebay??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Check out www.nellbutler.com. I just found it there for $40.00.

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi Kristy,

It definitely was the Original Heaven Sent by Helena Rubenstein.

On eBay you will see price ranges anywhere from a few dollars to over $150.00 for the original Helena Rubenstein Heaven Sent - check it out. Http://www.ebay.com

I've been using the original Heaven Sent since I was 7 years old - my Mom bought me a huge bottle back then, and when it was sold to MEM and then DANA (which made it HORRIBLE), I turned to eBay. So far, I've been happy with my purchases there.

Best of Luck,

Re: Heaven Scent
The name is absolutely and without question....Heaven Sent, NOT HEAVEN SCENT. In addition, it was manufactured by Helena Rubinstein, NOT Mem and NOT Dana. It has been around for quite a long time, maybe as long as since the 1930's or earlier. If made by Dana or Mem, it is not the original scent that was worn by people in the 70's or before.

I can't speak about any other vintage bottle of this fragrance than the one I own. This bottle, however, contains an Eau De Parfum version which smells wonderful. It goes on beautifully and blooms into a deep, rich & heady bouquet that lasts all day. There's nothing weak about it, but it hasn't "turned" at all. The bottle itself is a thing of beauty; fluted, heavy glass that looks like it could be crystal actually. The fragrance just sparkles in it and I love looking at it. What more could you want in a vintage perfume? It cost me $67, but I could have probably gotten one for less in an auction format. Don't waste your time or your money on an imitation. This fragrance is readily available in it's original form, if you really want it.

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi Everyone,

Like I've said MANY times before, the Original HEAVEN SENT by Helena Rubenstein was LATER BOUGHT OUT by MEM and then DANA (fragrance is HORRIBLE). But the Best and Original was the one by Helena Rubenstein which you can still find on eBay, on a regular basis. I've been using Heaven Sent since childhood and it is definitely one of my mainstays. Since it's fragrance is so ingrained into me - I know when the perfume has turned and I'm very careful to ask many questions before I buy, and on the rare occasion that I may get one that isn't 'right', I return it for the full price of my purchase.
So, I wish you all Good Luck and hope you enjoy Heaven Sent as much as I have and still do.

Oh, and by the way - I have bought the IRMA SHORELL
(Long Lost Perfumes) version of Heaven Sent - which they call 'INFINITE GRACE' and I was SORELY DISAPPOINTED - it was NOTHING like the Original Heaven Sent - so save your money for the Original Heaven Sent by Helena Rubenstein.

Re: Heaven Sent
Hi Everyone. I like most of you I also love love love this perfume BUT only by Helena Rubinstein. I did get a few bottles on ebay but then I came across an ORIGINAl bottle of it with the pat# on the bottom of the bottle and most of the label on it and 94% of the perfume in the bottle. Has a round dingy gold top like a ball on it. It is shaped like a women round on top and like a long dress on the bottom. This is definetly by Helena Rubinstein as it say so on the botton of the glass bottle. I was soooo happy I found this. And it smells just like it did many many years ago. I know I have an actual small small piece of history. (Wonder if it's worth anything) Thanks all Trena

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi Ligeia,

Re. My bottle of Heaven Scent (with a c) - I wasn't suggesting this was the original Heaven Sent, as the label makes clear it's by Liberty.

The reason I made the post was because early on in the thread several people were insisting that the fragrance they used to own was spelled Heaven Scent (with a c) and I wanted to let them know that there was indeed a fragrance available (around the 1970s) with that name.

I am not familiar with the original so I can't compare, but this fragrance I have smells quite nice (powdery jasmine and apple blossom), so it's plausible that some people remember it fondly, even if it was only a licensed reproduction of the 1941 original.

Cheers
Christine

Keep looking on-line for it but it is the most awful smell I have smelled all of my life! I SERIOUSLY would rather have a skunk for a pet than to take one whiff of this cologne again!!!!!I don't see how ANYONE can stand the smell of this. To each it's own but this stuff makes me gag! I cannot believe they still still sell it!!!

Re: Heaven Scent
Hello Christine,

First of all - the Original -HELENA RUBENSTEIN 'HEAVEN SENT'
Was produced in the United States. It is NOT 'Heaven Scent'.
What you purchased was NOT the Original - Liberty Cosmetics from the U.K. Must have paid a Licensing Fee for distribution. On all Original HEAVEN SENT- there is a Gold Cupid with a Bow & Arrow, so, but I'm sure that Liberty Cosmetics 'borrowed' from the original Label.

Over the years, there have been different versions of 'HEAVEN SENT'. It was first bought out by MEM, and then later by DANA which makes a HORRIBLE version. Heaven Scent is in NO WAY the original HEAVEN SENT. So, I would advise those of you who love the original to make sure it's The Helena Rubenstein HEAVEN SENT (NOT Scent).

Good Luck!

Re: Heaven Scent
My wife has a box set of the original Heaven sent which she got from her grandma. She remembers it way back in the 60's being in her Grandma's bedroom. The set has two unopened soaps, an unopened talc, unopened body lotion and almost full Eau de Parfum spray, which, despite its age still smells wonderful. As she's not a great one for perfumes she's put it up for sale on ebay if anyone is interested.

Re: Heaven Scent
Hi Christine,

I totally understand - about the Liberty Heaven Scent.

British Fragrances are known for being lovely - as a matter of fact, I just purchased a bottle of TWEED by Lentheric and it is HEAVENLY, so I'm sure that the Liberty version's Heaven Scent must be nice as well.

The NEW Version of HEAVEN SENT - reformulated by DANA is
So HORRIBLE that when I bought it - with High Hopes, and sprayed it on me - I got a Headache and felt like I was choking - it's THAT Bad!

I can't understand why DANA doesn't use the Original Formula for Heaven Sent - but, from what I know - people keep writing to them and DANA does NOTHING about making their version better.

We can only hope - that they 'get it' and start making the Beautiful Heaven Sent of days past.

All the Best,

Re: Heaven Scent
Hello all, I just want to add something to the confusion over the name of this fragrance!

I purchased a bottle from eBay that I thought was Heaven Sent but when I looked at the label it actually says Heaven Scent. With a c! The rest of the label says:

"Made in England by Liberty Cosmetics Ltd. Under licence from Helena Rubinstein. Sole UK Distributor, Liberty Cosmetics Ltd, SW4 7ET."

It's a 30ml eau de toilette spray with a baby pink cap. The label is pale pink with silver stars, and an image of cupid drawing his bow. Looks like it's from the 70s. The scent is definitely a powdery jasmine.

So... Maybe those who are referring to the Heaven Scent frag are recalling this Liberty version?

Re: Heaven Scent
Hey Jonnie,

Like I've said on this blog, thousands of times before, you can find the ORIGINAL HEAVEN SENT by Helena Rubenstein, NOT Heaven Scent , on eBay for a moderate price, most of the time.

I keep buying mine on eBay, and so far, neither the price, nor that heavenly fragrance that I remember so well, since I was a child, has disappointed me.

Good Luck!

Re: Heaven Scent
Ligeia knows what she is talking about!! No one seems to listen though! You can find the ORIGINAL Heaven SENT, not Heaven SCENT.... In online auctions for a reasonable price. Modern perfumes very often cost more than vintage Heaven Sent by HELENA RUBINSTEIN. It was not orignally made by Dana or any other manufacturer, but by H. Rubinstein. I have a bottle of the EDP, purchased in an online auction and it smells EXACTLY like it should smell, just as it smelled 40 years ago. Not only does it smell "heavenly", it lasts all day on the skin! Heaven Sent was my first perfume, I went through several bottles and I'm very familiar with how it should smell. You CAN go home again with this one. Believe it....or not! If you want to have it again, smell it again, or wear it again, Heaven Sent is readily available if you really want it and it doesn't have to cost a fortune! Sheesh!! What's up with some people??
