Ambush Cologne

I am looking for the original Ambush cologne by Dana which I wore through the 70's The company created a new formula during the 90's I believe and the scent is awful. Was hoping the company would remarket the old one. Anyone have any suggestion's of a scent that is similar or lead's on where to get the original? I did find a tiny bottle on e-bay but that's not going to last long...thank's for any help.

Re: Ambush Cologne
Thefragrancefactory.com has the original Ambush, but it's 75 bucks for a 1.7 or 1.8 ounce bottle.

Re: Ambush Cologne
You can find the original with the pink cap at the Vermont Country Store. It is a special order item. The Item # is 41841. The telephone# is 1-8--=211-4741. The cost is 30.95 including s&h.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I bought the New version of Ambush and it STINKS ! I thought it was going to smell like the one from the 60's. I already called Dana Customer service to let them know that we want the Old Original Ambush Back and please to remove the stinky one from the market, so nobody else will be shocked like I was. I wrote to them, too.
If you know of a place where I can get the Original one, please let me know. We all who love the original scent should write to Dana and ask them to manufacture it again.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I always loved Ambush. The last bottle I bought I thought something was wrong with it. Please change it back. I have a couple of bottles of the old formula and I hoard it like gold.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I was able to find it through e-mail distributors until this year. All the companies I ordered it from are OUT! It's a shame that as you've all said the new Ambush is horrible. I'd make a mint if I knew the recipe for the old original! I'm going to try The Vermont Store.......if anyone finds it elsewhere please post a message. Lets send Dana some messages about our dislike of their new Ambush......maybe they'll bring the best back.

Re: Ambush Cologne
Google turned up a result of 99perfume.com - the picture is of the original bottle with the pink cap. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Now if I could just find the original "Love" perfume - anyone else remember that one?

Re: Ambush Cologne
Found the classic on: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002182ZM/ref=olp_product_details/002-4890451-6011222?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance for $25.99. Ordered it for the Wife. It brings back memories from the 60's and 70's when I think of the way it smells. Angora sweaters, sock hops, first dates, first (real) kisses and everything good from back then. No scent even comes close today! Always on the lookout for it but never find it.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I agree Chris
I found a bottle under an ounce on Ebay for $75.00! I tried to contact Dana but could not send any messages. I wonder if a note could be sent to the address on the new Ambush label?
I wish I knew the ingredients it seems like I would be a millionaire if it made a comeback. There is nothing like the Original.......if only Dana knew that!!!!!! Jeanne

Re: Ambush Cologne
OK, I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but I did call the number for Dana Classic Fragrances, and asked if they would consider bringing back old fragrances. The smartaleck gal on the phone said "Well, not unless they have A LOT of requests for it". I asked for a toll free number to place such a request, and got this (8--)822 - 8547

Now, EVERYONE needs to get in touch with everyone they know that wants the old Ambush and "Eau de Love" and bombard them with requests to go back to the original formula for Ambush, and to bring back "Love".

Let me know how things go, OK? Thanks!!!!

Re: Ambush Cologne
About four years ago, I found three small bottles of Ambush cologne at "The Family Dollar Store" and bought all three, even though one had leaked. After those were gone, I ordered the "new" Ambush from FragranceNet, and it WAS awful. Patchouli is the added ingredient that changes the aroma from a very “clean” smell to a musky and therefore more sensual aroma. If I wanted to wear Patchouli, I would have bought Patchouli. How do we contact Dana to tell them that we want the “real thing”, not the “new and improved version”? The Vermont Country Store no longer has any old Ambush.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I just spoke with the customer service department at Dana Classic Fragrances about the original Ambush and she said you have to send your request in writing. So, please write a letter to marketing. Here's their address. Write.....write..... Write....
Marketing
Dana Classic Fragrances
395 Oakhill Road, Suite 115
Mountain Top, PA 18707

If marketing gets enough requests maybe they will agree to bring back the Original.

Re: Ambush Cologne
Well, has anyone found a new supply of Ambush yet ?? I married my High School Sweet Heart... And I agree the scent was the 'hook'. I've been trying to find for 30 years. Didn't Avon sell it originally ? I'm definately 'in' if someone finds a suppler. I'm writing for the 'Orignial' come back today. Thanks

Re: Ambush Cologne
Thanks Karen, I found some on ebay $40.50 - you have to watch the Lettering close. On the new reformulated version, the 'S' is fancy and hangs down, th 'A' is crossed differently. When you see the bottle, you have to check the wrting on the packaging to be sure you are getting the original vintage stock. On ebay, you can see actual pics of each.

Re: Ambush Cologne
Don't know what is different but Canoe for Men does smell alot like the old Ambush! I too met my Husband while wearing it 33 years ago. Bought it until they took it off the market. Hunting for it every since. Read on one of these blogs that Canoe smelled like the old Ambush so I went and bought some today. Smells really good and I will see later if it passes my hubby's nose test !

Re: Ambush Cologne
I too am looking for the original Ambush. I wore it through high school in the 60s and into the early seventies. It is very similar to Canoe because Dana originally produced it because girls were wearing Canoe. The Vermont Country Store has Ambush in the new spring catalog. I think I'll order it and keep my fingers crossed! There is nothing like the scent of the original.

Re: Ambush Cologne
I WILL HAVE SOME ORIGINAL FORMULA AMBUSH UP FOR AUCTION ON EBAY SHORTLY LADIES, IT IS THE ORIGINAL FORMULA FRESHLY COMPOUNDED. THE COMPANY WILL NEVER MAKE IT AGAIN, BUT THE RECIPE HAS BEEN SOLD AND IS BEING REMARKETED. I NORMALLY DO NOT BASH, BUT PLEASE DONT BUY THE VERMONT STORE FORMULA, WHAT THEY ARE SELLING SMELLS LIKE BAD AFTER-SHAVE, IT IS PERFECTLY HORRIBLE, I HAVE BOUGHT THEIR VINTAGE REMAKES AND THEY ARE AWFUL. THERE ARE SOME GOOD PERFUMERS THAT REALIZE THIS UNTAPPED MARKET THOUGH AND HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE BY RE-MAKING SOME WONDERFUL OLDIES BUT GOODIES. PLEASE SHOP WITH ME IN IN ABOUT A WEEK AND I WILL HAVE SOME LISTED THAT WONT BREAK THE BANK TOO BAD. MY EBAY ID IS AMLSHOPS2 THIS IS FOR THOSE WANTING THE ACTUAL FRAGRANCE NOT BOTTLE HUNTING.

My Ambush order is in, i have several bottles that will be up for auction, these smell wonderful, i cant stress enough to the skeptics that this is really the best remake ever and it is so fresh, i would take this any day of the wek over an old bottle. I do sell on Ebay but I wont be listing these for awhile unless I hear from somebody that wants it now because I have so much listed now. If you want a bottle please email me at arriealtos@aol.com. Re: Ambush Cologne
I have been looking for the original ambush for years. But I have even more reason. My daughter who is 15 is just a little hippie in heart and mind she should of been born in the 60"s. Ambush is the cologne of that generation and it is a must have not only for the aroma which there is nothig like, but for the tradition of the 60's. It brings back so many memories of flowers, love, peace and the best years of my life. I wish the manufacturers would realize how happy they would make us if they sold the real thing.

Re: Ambush Cologne
The Ambush Colonge I found recently still has the same scent as what my mom hand in the 1970's....beleive it or not I found Ambush Cologne by Dana Classic at the...99 Cents Stores here in Ventura, California. The size of the bottle is 8.5 fl. Oz. And the maker is DanaClassic Fragrances.
I did take the change of buying it for 99Cents only, brandnew and to my surpirse the scent is just the same and wonderful just how it was in the 70's when my mom had this.
People notice the scent everytime I put a dab on...

I have exactly what you are looking for. My husband bought for me in the late 60's. 2 oz. Bottle. My allergies wont let me wear any perfume now so it's just been setting on the shelf. Still smells like yesterday (Great)! The bottle is approx. 70% full. Let me know what we can do. Txndi@aol.com
