Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I too have been searching, wore it and loved it in the 70's and I am very sensitive to perfumes and such!
Did anyone ever try the gardenia line from body works, not as close but close enough, but guess what, discontinued!

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I can remember the heady fragrance of Tuvache Jungle Gardenia in the mid 60's when I worked in the cosmetics counter at a drug store as a teenager. Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia is a ringer for it. I recall reading that Tuvache's Jungle Gardenia was a favorite of her's.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I tried the Gardenia cologne from longlostperfumes.com and found that it was nothing like the original Jungle Gardenia. I was very disappointed. It smells just like all the other ordinary gardenia sprays out there.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
The only place I recall ever hearing about Jungle Gardenia was one of the old quiz shows (Truth or Consequences?) that gave it as a consolation prize!!

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I have a bottle of Tuvache Gardenia from long lost perfumes. 22.50 for 2 ounce bottle. I have tried it and just can't seem to like it enough to wear it out of the house. You can have it for 15.00. I have a little over half left. I can send you a picture of it. So you can see amount. If interested contact me by email.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
The Jungle Gardenia "Oil" on PerfumesCounter.com is not the real thing...
posted 12/08/04 by Jo

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
The perfume from long lost perfume is not a oil. But as I have searched over the years, I have not found any perfume that is anything like the simple delicate flower from the bush. Anyone know of one that fits this description. I wear perfume for my husband not really for me. Mine for me are much stronger or more powdery at times. But, I also love the fragrance of the white gardenia flower.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I visited the www.thefragrancefactory.com website. They wanted $150.00 for one 1.7 oz bottle of Jungle Gardenia! That's really absurd! It use to cost $10 bucks at Drug Emporium!!

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Perfumescounter.com are oils, not the real JUNGLE GARDENIA (Tuvache type).

Has anyone smell a fragrance called "Fracas" by Robert Piguet. It seems the flavour is quite the same as Jungle Gardenia. What do you think about it ?

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I too have been looking for Tuvache Jungle Gardenia and tried the Longlostperfume version, and is definitely isn't anything like the original! I have looked high and low for the original, and found some on eBay, but the most likely still fresh bottle was $149.00 and of course who knows if it is still wearable. There really isn't anything in the world that even comes close to it!!!

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Hey, I just bought two bottles of vintage Jungle Gardenia on e Bay. I received them today. The bottle is two ounces of spray cologne. I really only need one, let me know by e mail if you would like to have one of mine. I must admit I also bought another bottle from Judy's Attic the same night. Now I have three and am thinking I have too much to use before my life ends.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I found it on e bay, even though it is vintage, it still smells the same...does not seem to have spoiled at all. Cost a fortune though. If anyone wishes to have one of the bottles I bought, I will send a picture to your email. I have three, I will want to keep two for myself.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
How much are you asking for the one bottle?

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Hey, yes, quite crazy...it's the vintage variety, from the 70's. Tuvache... The 22.00 kind is a newer fragrance from Coty. It's okay. I love it I will keep it all and bath in it. Good Luck

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Yes, this is the real stuff, vintage from the 1950's....still smells awsome...being out of production drives the price up.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I know there is a website where you can buy the real Jungle Gardenia. It's about $100 or so.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Jo,
Thanks for your reply! This is not the original version of TJG...I have ordered it and was dissappointed. It's fairly close, but just lacks that "certain something" the original had. Maybe that's why it is advertised as Tuvache Gardenia, and not Tuvache Jungle Gardenia.
Thanks again,
Mary

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
There is NO good imitation of Tuvache Jungle Gardenia...Any money you spend thinking you will get one, is money wasted. I know...I've tried them all! I should have just parted with the $$$ and got the real thing! Why someone hasn't bought the rights to it and brought it back on the market is beyond me!

I am too looking for the original Jungle Gardenia, however does anyone remember it being in a round bottle with a decorative label? It was available in the 70's.

Re: Mystere By Rochas
Have any of you smelled or worn Mystere by Rochas? If so, can you describe the frangrance? I was told it was similar to Must de Cartier parfum. I wore Must exclusively for 15 years and all of a sudden it did not smell the same on me. I have been told it has not been changed, but then have been told and also read that Cartier tweaked it about 6 yrs ago for a more "mordern" smell. If so, shame on Cartier!!!

I'm looking for jungle gardenia, I seem to remember it coming in a green bottle. The last time I had some was in the early 80's. Does any one know who made it and if it is still around.

I have 1 very large 8-1/4 fl. Oz. Of Jungle Gardenia by Tuvache "All Over Lotion" for sale. It has never been opened and is in the original box with cellophane wrap. I always used the lotion instead of the perfume because the beautiful scent lasted much longer.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
The Jungle Gardenia eau de parfum sold at www.TimelessPerfumes.com smells just like the original Tuvache', nice and light, costs 45 dollars and has a moneyback guarantee. I think they own the trademark now.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I wore the original Tuvache Jungle Gardenia for years. I have tried ALL the remakes (reformulations). The one Cody made was the closest (and even that wasn't close). Do not bother trying this new stuff that says it was reformulated to match the 1960's version. IT DOES NOT!!!!!!! It smells so bad I can't even wear it. Save your money.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Supposedly Irma Shorell (.net) owns the copyright to the Tuvache Trademark and is selling the gardenia perfume at 35.00 for the toilette water. Having the Trademark is not the same as having the formula, I hope they sold that to her too. Its worth a try.

I hope you ladies remember about fragrance sensitive people like me and wear your fragrances very sparingly. I love them but they make me-and 15% of the population-sick :( I was on here researching the Tuvache Nectorama powder as Elizabeth Taylor had given a gift of it to my sister at one time- 35 years ago. I can still smell it as if it were yesterday, great stuff! Wish I could try the other things.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I noticed in another post that vermontcountrystore.com has Jungle Gardenia for $50 - they say that it's the original 1936 formula. I'm going to give it a try- but I did want to say that I find Fracas to be the closest thing I've ever smelled to that old wonderful fragrance. All the memories came flooding back.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
The so called Tuvache Jungle Gardenia that country store sells is NOT even close to the original! Hope you see this posting.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Thank you for posting that information Mary- you've saved me $50 - I was going to buy it this weekend. Wow.
I did once buy the Irma Shorell version- and though it is close when first sprayed, it seems to change later. The Fracas is lovely- and on Sephora you can try it in a small rollerball bottle for a lot less than the larger sized sprays.
Thanks again- J

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Hi Jme, I too had the same experience with the Irma Shorell version. Awhile back I did purchase a bottle on eBay, and while it was taking a chance, I opted to "go for it," and was glad I did!

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
I too have been looking for tuvache's jungle gardenia for a long time, and have tried many of the other gardenia sprays- the only one that comes the closest is Fracas- I sent away for it from some place in Texas and it was expensive. I just sent for a small amount of the gardenia spray Madonna uses, but I am prepared to be disappointed. Fracas is really the closest you will find so far. Now I wish I had bought ten bottles of it all those years ago- whoever devised it was a genius- the smell just gets so beautiful as the hours go on- I wish someone would get ahold of the original formula and manufacture it within our price range.

Re: Tuvache Jungle Gardenia
Amerimark used to carry Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia which was similar. Did not match Tuvache's. They since have stopped carrying it. Has anyone tried the one from Timeless Perfumes?
